    6. Hurdslenk - Onem (Isaiah Remix)
The 7th Frenzy chapter is upon us and we are delighted to present a long-running project with no other than UK mastermind Hurdslenk. Years ago he took part in the Frenzy contest - having us hopelessly falling in love with his driving trademark sound. Growing up in the 00s techno era, he subtly blends old-school elements with a contemporary vision in an unrivalled way, resulting in releases on labels such as Freddy K’s KEY. We’re proud to finally see ‘Twenty Cycles’ EP delivered, a 6-track EP including two remixes by UK-born and raised Bailey Ibbs and Frenzy co-founder Isaiah.
‘Pull Effect’ opens the realm of the A-side and pays respect to its name. You’re drawn into a scenery of deep kicks, drums, and mental vocals. Followed by ‘Mayhem’, a deep and pensive groover that slowly builds up to an echo chamber of dark pads and gentle dub accents. Bailey Ibbs kicks in the door with a remix on the verge of the industrial and the forceful. The B-side embarks on a ride into the past with ‘Warriors’, where compressed dub patterns and a haunting speech set the stage for a mind-altering body workout. Before you know it, ‘Onem’ kicks in with a tension release and sweaty groove while Isaiah flips the coin on this track and transforms it into an uplifting bouncy bass workout.
It’s time to move -‘Twenty Cycles’ EP takes you on a journey into the deep.

Emerging Belgian DJ/producer STEYA shares her debut EP on IMF, becoming just the ninth artist to release a full body of work on Marcel Fengler’s influential label. Her debut EP crystalises 20 years of devotion to techno, presenting a broad palette of sonic influences formed since her early days as a raver in Antwerp. At the same time, it continues the label’s philosophy of pairing a next generation artist with respected heads of the genre, with long-time Swedish producer Hertz and STEYA’s hero Rolando featuring on her ‘Dopamine EP’. An EP borne through two years of dedicated studio time, ‘Dopamine EP’ kicks off with the electric title track, a gritty tribal outing marked by dynamic shifts in tempo throughout.

An exercise in control of auditory limitations and possibilities, GAEL redefines techno production with their comprehension of cold atmospherics and meticulous world building. Exemplified in their first solo EP ‘Frozen White Horse’ released on BITE Records, fervent, hurtling drums are underpinned by hopeful euphorics and circulating, breathy cybernetics. A culmination of sophisticated sonic dialects reared from the intersections of soundscaping and electronic music, the berlin-based DJ/Producer from Dagestan (by-way-of Kyiv and Odesa) commits their practice to the inclusivity of borderless, capricious and emotive dance-floor synergy. This energy was previously captured on BITE last year with their appearances on the Shedding Skin VA and The Soft Moon’s Exister Remixed. GAEL’s harmonic and organic approach to techno production echoes the heartbeat of dancefloor resistance, captivating audiences across venues from Berlin’s Berghain to Kyiv’s ∄ as a resident at the queer event series XITb.
Delivering thunderous feeling through experimental sounds and masterful pacing, the 4-track-EP blurs the margins of moody techno exploration with remarkable attitude and a foreboding sense of uphill struggle. For the opening title track, a procession of stacked chords, synths and snares are met with a cyclone of galloping percussion building to maximum intensity until dispersing into echoey chimes. As the listener is able to catch their breath, the second track ‘prpttcxsstnc’ reignites - this time with trepidatious yet ethereal vibration, as the track continues to inject GAEL’s post-punk style of galvanised energy, rich layered drums maintain the undercurrent of resolute chaos into the following track ‘there is nothing left’. Sombre track titles are off-set by triumphant vigour for the third instalment, pushing through gale force drums and the clanging zaps and bleeps of electronic debris. Concluding with the final cacophony of collaged beats and drums, bellowing siren-like cold wails meld with GAEL’s calamity crescendo of crashing cymbals, the procession of rapturous drums slipping into a distant echo of warped hollow gleams.

Belgium pioneer Steve Redhead is the founder of Reda Recordings and has spent his life immersed in techno. His potent take on the genre has appeared on labels like MB Elektronics, Zync, and Primate and has helped define the sound of the underground within his home country over the last 25 years. Returning to SHDW's Mutual Rytm imprint following his well-received 'Eastbook Isle' EP last year, he's back to impress again as he uncovers six new productions with his latest EP, 'Cosmic Alchemy'.
He shows his class from the off here with opener 'Sincfala', bringing the heat with banging drums and rusty percussive loops. Yelping vocals add raved-up intensity, while 'Rapidshare' is energetic and loopy with funky drum patterns and loose-limbed percussive madness. The fantastic 'Ad Valvas' is another straight-up linear banger with tightly woven drums, percussion and lithe synth lines that take you to the heart of the dance floor and 'Nusakan' is a muscular wall of drums and toms with urgent synth stabs powering it forwards with great intensity. 'Asmodeus' brings a more zoned-out feel with soulful pads and subtle vocals layered over the elastic drums and bass, before digital bonus 'Voice Incident' delivers another perfectly textural techno workout with melancholic motifs and surging synths that bring warm rushes of emotion to the grooves.

NIX is back with 'My Friend Was Eaten by a Modular Rack', a fresh release from Ocirala. Hailed for his hugely popular release ‘I Want To Lick Your Brains’, Ocirala now returns with a four tracker that veers away from his earlier vocal-driven work while maintaining his naughty style.
'My Friend Was Eaten by a Modular Rack', a year in the making, captures a collection of those odd yet perfectly cohesive tracks. The A-side delivers high-energy, club-ready tunes, while the B-side, though perfect for after-hours, retains the power to electrify any big system setup, all confirming Ocirala's talent for impeccable sound design.
Wild synths, haunting atmospheres, driving drums and twitchy kicks, there is something for everyone.
