First invited as the debut guest DJ for Mutual Rytm’s inaugural label night back in 2022, Berlin’s Phil Berg has maintained a close relationship with the imprint ever since. Known for his shadowy, immersive sound, Berg has carved out a singular position within the scene - equally respected for his high-impact DJ sets, his improvisational live performances, and a production style defined by clarity, tension, and a deeply recognisable sonic identity. While his live shows remain a vital part of his artistic DNA, often shaping the raw ideas that later evolve in the studio, his work extends far beyond the club floor, marking him out as a fully formed and increasingly essential voice in contemporary techno. That connection between stage and studio is fully realised on ‘Dārin’, where Berg delivers a darker, more driving statement for his Mutual Rytm debut, with the title track already becoming a standout in the sets of label founder SHDW.
The title cut opens the EP with great urgency, as flaming drums and machine-gun synths are fired across the night sky, with sensuous whispers and sonar pulses adding the pull of the groove. Next, ‘Tempest’ brings big, banging hits, nailing down the kicks while rising tension appears through the backlit synths and distant bass rumbles. ‘Tanoo’ releases the pressure with a more luminous synth line that locks you in a trance as linear drums race on, while ‘Mephisto’ keeps you on edge with twitchy motifs and a burrowing bassline that drills down deep into a moody underworld. The EP closes with ‘Destiny Bond’, which rises with undulating, tactile lines, sleek synth smears, and a cosmic sense of travel. As digital bonus cuts, ‘Seiko’ and ‘Nyx’ bring anxiety and foreboding to the fore with two more muscular and physical deep techno hitters crafted for maximum impact.

  • Regis — HATE Podcast 494
Regis is the 494th guest of our original Hate Podcast series.
For our latest podcast episode, we are honored to host a true pioneer of underground electronic music: Regis. Known both for his fierce solo material and legendary projects like British Murder Boys and Sandwell District, he delivers a masterclass in raw sound pressure and uncompromising, loop-driven energy.
This episode features a relentless DJ set recorded with or without the kind permission of Regis, at Freedom Festival in Medellin, Colombia. Hit play for a masterclass in raw sound pressure and uncompromising, loop-driven energy.

JKS is back on his own imprint with Temples, opening a different chapter of his sound.
Across three original tracks, he explores a more melodic and expansive direction, while keeping the raw rhythmic energy and distinctive percussion that have always defined his productions. Processed instruments, playful synth lines and organic textures come together with a sense of openness and curiosity, always anchored in movement and groove.
    Artist: JKS
    Title: Temples EP
    Label: Smile Sessions
    Catalogue: SMILE012
    Format: Vinyl, Digital
    Genre: Electronic
    Style: #Techno
    Release date: July 3, 2026

    4. JKS - Venom Rush (A Strange Wedding Remix)
    5. JKS - Temples (Aloka Remix)
    6. JKS - Crush On You (Olympe4000 Remix)
Alongside the originals, three remixes by Aloka, A Strange Wedding and Olympe4000 extend the scope of the release. Each artist brings their own sensibility to the project, reinterpreting the material in their own language and broadening the spectrum of both the record and the imprint. Together, they highlight different facets of JKS’ influences while keeping a shared sense of drive and tension.
The result is a collection that balances movement and emotion, precision and spontaneity. Deeply rooted in the dancefloor, yet unafraid to venture beyond familiar boundaries, the release captures an artist and a label continuing to evolve while staying true to their core.

    2. Live 2.2
More than two decades later, Live 2 opens the first chapter of Cycles Music, Alexander´s new label. The release follows the same essential impulse: music shaped through performance, tested in real spaces and built to carry the intensity of the live experience.
Featuring two tracks that have been part of Kowalski’s live sets for years, Live 2 brings together material that has already proved its force on dancefloors and festival stages around the world. Direct, driving and deeply atmospheric, the tracks reflect the same independent spirit that has defined his work from the beginning, while placing it firmly in the present.
As the first release on Cycles Music, Live 2 is both a statement of intent and a continuation. It connects past and future without falling into nostalgia, bringing a fragment of Kowalski’s live history into a new context. Raw in energy, precise in form and unmistakably his own, Live 2 sets the tone for a label built on continuity, transformation and forward motion.
