90. Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002)
Hello Groovy Humans, baby, yeah!
It’s been a minute since we kicked around a crummy movie, so Allison suggested Austin Powers in Goldmember from 2002! This movie needed more Beyonce, more Mini Me, more Michael Caine, and WAY LESS Fat Bastard. Also: Hunter conflates Mike Myers with Michael Myers, sings the hit song “Gold Dick” by KC and the Sunshine Band, and we suggest several fixes for this lackluster threequel. Plus: that so-called Godzilla looks like the Big Lizard from that Dead Milkmen album cover.
89. Clue (1985)
Hello Excellent Suspects!
You might be wondering why you’ve been gathered here. Krystal TL Brackett returns and she’s brought her boo Sean Brady to discuss Clue (1985). Is this the first cinematic adaptation of a board game? Was there really a Joe Dirt 2? And who keeps ringing that bell? We want answers! Plus: Allison shows her Virgo tendencies, Hunter expresses his Aquarius nature, and Martin Short has Long Martin Energy.
88. Swiss Army Man (2016)
Hello Excellent Daniels!
Let’s all wish cohost Allison Yakulis a happy birthday by listening to this episode, on one of her favorite films - 2016’s absurd yet life-affirming Swiss Army Man, directed by the duo known as Daniels! Hello Excellent Visitors!
Hunter’s mom Lynette Notte finally returns to the show to discuss aliens some more! This time we’re talking about Stephen Spielberg’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)! Topics include: The Beastie Boys, PG-13 ratings, Lisztomania, Hynek’s scale of Close Encounters, high strangeness, fake idioms, Betty & Barney Hill, and Allison’s rare medical condition: Corn Blindness! Beam me up, mommy!
86. My Own Private Idaho (1991)
Hello Excellent Humans!
Aliya Amilani returns to the program to talk about one of her personal favorite, sexually formative films Gus Van Sant’s My Own Private Idaho (1991)! As with most Aliya episodes, this one is less about the specifics of the movie and more about Aliya’s relationship to it but we also recommend some Udo Kier movies, Hunter confuses Matthew McConaughey with Woody Harrelson, and we uncover the secret origins of the Minions!
85. Foodfight! (2012)
Hello Excellent Ikes!
Benjamin Franklin once said “Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy”. Foodfight! (2012) is like the opposite of that. Bryan Bierman plumbs new depths of cinematic garbage with this much-maligned CGI animated nightmare of extreme apathy. Along the way we discuss Mortal Kombat, Veggie Tales, Poochie from The Simpsons, Ed Grimley, and Planters’ Baby Nut; see who knows the Hawaiian Punch mascot’s name, compare raisin mascots, and mention Shrek. A lot.
84. Bound (1996)
Hello Excellent Humans!
We’re bringing our Pride month block to a close with Gabby Reeves discussing the Wachowskis’ steamy ‘90s neo-noir Bound (1996)! Was this an audition piece for The Matrix? Is Jimmy Hoffa a cryptid? What exactly is ‘The Schneider Cut’? Hop aboard the Tilly Train (choo-choo!) and we’ll find out together!
83. The Birdcage (1996)
Hello Excellent Humans!
Pride month keeps on rolling with an annual favorite of ours - The Birdcage! Eight-timer Krystal TL Brackett joins us to talk about our love for this flick and how it ended up becoming a New Year’s Day tradition at Mt. Mausoleum (our house). Plus: we ask which astrological sign is the biggest martyr, talk about gay polyamorous dolphins, invent ma’amoflage and wonder: whatever happened to Rock Band?
82. The Babadook (2014)

For the first of 3 Pride Month episodes, we’re talking about modern LGBTQ+ icon The Babadook with guest, the Lizzo of HWGW: Nicole Krecicki! We discuss future podcast plans, various interpretations of the film, the Nickelodeon time capsule, AEW wrestler Keith Lee, and The Frasierdook!
Visit the South Street Art Mart in person or on the internet!
