Haunted Mansion, Talk To Me, and July’s month-in-review

New releases Haunted Mansion and Talk To Me hit the big screen this weekend, while Barbie and Oppenheimer continued with fantastic holds. We pause to look back at July’s month in review, and to see how 2023’s year-to-date compares with past years’ box office. As well as audience analyses for both new titles, Matthew and Ryan run us through some upcoming changes to the release schedule, and what it might mean for the coming box office.

Box Office Overview:

Barbie in its second week added $93M domestically for a domestic total of $351.4M. Internationally it grossed a further $122.2M, a decline of only 32.2% for a total internationally of $423.1M, and $775M worldwide.

Oppenheimer domestically added $46.2M for a domestic total of $174.1M, and $72.4M internationally for $226.3M as the international total.

Haunted Mansion made $24.2M domestically and $9.1M internationally for a worldwide total of $33.3M — though notably is not yet out in major territories including the UK, Australia, and Japan.

Sound of Freedom continued to made money domestically with another $12.8M, leading to $149.4M in domestic total now.

Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One added $10.6M domestically bringing its domestic total to $139.1M. Internationally it has reached $308M, for a worldwide total of $447.2M.
