Built back in the 1850s, this Greenwich Village townhome has been connected to over twenty deaths. According to the legend, at least, the spirits of these long lost souls are still haunting the property. As such, the charming building has gained a rather formidable nickname. They say that Frankenstein Castle is the inspiration behind Mary Shelley's acclaimed horror classic. Really, it's no wonder why. Thanks to rich, albeit dark history, the castle's story more or less aligns with Shelly's novel. But if you want my opinion, no horror story is truly complete without at least a few ghosts.

The St. Omer Cemetery may seem like an ordinary grave yard overgrown with wildflowers. In fact, it likely would have been forgotten entirely, if it weren't for the monument sitting on the far side of the property. It's the Barnes Family Epitaph that keeps the St. Omer Cemetery on the map; and it's all thanks to the peculiar legend that's carved in that very stone.
