Feeling the need to spice things up, Mariko picked up and moved to Dubai, where she familiarized herself with a whole new international market, collaborating with colleagues from England, France, Lebanon, and Egypt, amongst others. Back in NYC, Mariko worked as a buyer for designer RTW at Barneys before creating her own line of beautiful, repurposed, authentic Japanese kimonos.
