Havlicek Stole the Pod NBA Basketball Podcast

This week, Luis Gonzalez and Justin Quinn take a quick look back at the 2016-17 season and Game Five of the Eastern Conference Finals, and a preliminary dive into the MANY options the Boston Celtics have on their plate for what's shaping up to be one of the more exciting offseasons in living memory for Celtics fans. With a boatload of decisions to make and a ridiculous collection of assets at their disposal to grease the wheels, the roster could look very different come training camp, giving this pod - and the summer - a lot to chew on in the best possible way.

After a nailbiting win almost no one expected, Topher Lane and Justin Quinn take a look back at what went a long way towards dispelling some of the sillier narratives floating around the NBA media of late. They also take a look at potential top pick options in the 2017 NBA Draft on the incredibly unlikely chances Danny Ainge and company make a surprise pick, or perhaps trade back a bit in the draft. Medical concerns with Isaiah Thomas and Guerschon Yabusele are also broken down (no pun intended), and of course the looming showdown at home is previewed in light of the recent life displayed by our Celts in this series.

Luis Gonzalez and Justin Quinn take on the unwelcome tasks of recapping the first two losses in the Eastern Conference Finals versus the Cavs just before Game Three's epic comeback victory, as well as debunking the "worst #1 seed ever" narrative that's been used recently to describe the Celts. We recorded this before Game three yesterday, which went a LONG way to making our point for us in dramatic fashion. We also discuss how the recent All-NBA team announcements may affect Boston's summer teambuilding targets, and take a look at the club's bright future and great season.

Join Justin Quinn, Topher Lane, Josh Coyne and a bunch of other guests as we recount the storied career of Boston Celtics legend and First Ballot Hall of Famer Paul Pierce, the "mother#&!% Truth". We cover the highlights (and one especially low moment) of his career, talk about his potential future in the league now that the era of Pierce as a player has drawn to an end, cover his recent words regarding Ray Allen's departure on Area 21, and take the pulse of fans around the league for good measure. This is our longest pod to date, chock full of all the content we could find to remember this Celtic great, so we hope you enjoy listening as much as we did making this.

The Boston Celtics closed out the Chicago Bulls in six games to get their first trip to the NBA Playoffs' Second Round for the first time in the Brad Stevens era, only to face a surging Washington Wizards squad...and win the first game of the series. Luís Gonzalez and Justin Quinn talk about how Boston got its act together, and how the current series looks to play out after a very tough start for both teams. They also discuss the resignation of Larry Bird from the Indiana Pacers and how it might affect summer team-building, the retirement of Paul Pierce, some unexpected dentistry for IT, and a lot more.

This week's deep dive mid-week pod covers the potential impact of First Round NBA Playoff results on the Boston Celtics' summer plans for free agency and trades. Luis Gonzalez and Topher Lane break down how recent struggles on and off the court have changed the outlook for players like Gordon Hayward, Jimmy Butler, Blake Griffin, Paul George, and several other likely Boston targets. While this was recorded before the recent news surrounding Larry Bird's resignation from the Indiana Pacers as President of Basketball Operations, the future of players like George, Butler, Griffin and others may have taken changes favorable to the Celts, while that success may have made the odds of signing Hayward and other players a little less likely. Tune in to hear their thoughts on how summer might play out now that we have an idea how at least some of the bigger fish in Boston's team-building plans may be looking at their future with their respective clubs.
