  • Episode 23: Training Day (w/Jacquis Neal)

Helloooooo! We're back and we're joined by Jacquis Neal (@jacquisneal) from the Culture Kings and I'm Your Host to talk about the iconic, the beloved, the oft-referenced, Training Day! The 2001 film stars Denzel Washington and, of course, our very own Ethan Hawke. Not to mention so many other recognizable names and faces!!

This feels like a real landmark film on our journey through Ethan Hawke's filmography and we're so excited that we made it and that you're along for the ride!

  • Episode 22: Tape

We're guestless again and talking about another Richard Linklater movie! That's right, we're talking Tape, the 2001 film starring Robert Sean Leonard, Uma Thurman, and our very own Ethan Hawke! We check in, argue, and agree to disagree on a few things. What fun!

Listen and let us know if you've seen Tape and what you thought about it on any of our social media. You can find us @hawkeyespod on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Tumblr!

  • Episode 21: Waking Life

This week we get back to our roots - it's a solo episode! A duo episode? Well - we're guest-less. And we're talking about Richard Linklater's film Waking Life, a monumental film in animation. The first ever rotoscoped film!

And, of course, we're talking Ethan Hawke. Hawke reprises his role as Jesse (from the Before series) for a brief scene in this dream of a movie.

  • Episode 19: Snow Falling On Cedars (w/Alex Button)

Honestly, this was a kind of difficult movie to talk about. We're used to joking about Ethan Hawke's artsy lines and romances gone wrong, but this week we had the task of discussing Snow Falling on Cedars, a movie which takes place during World War II and focuses a lot around the discrimination against Japanese Americans in the U.S. before, during, and after WWII. Of course, Ethan Hawke still falls in love, but it was definitely a different kind of movie from the ones we've discussed before.

We're joined by the wonderful Alex Button (@_abutton, Double Trouble Feature) who shares with us her belief that birds aren't real - truly a shocking twist on a show where we regularly share "Hawk Facts."

  • Episode 18: Joe the King (w/Kevin Bartelt)

Hey gang! This week we're talking about Joe the King (directed by Frank Whaley, who you may know from A Midnight Clear or his recent cameo in Hustlers). And we're joined by the very fun and cool Kevin Bartelt (@kevbartelt, Maybe Don't).

In this one, Ethan Hawke plays a guidance counselor - who wears sandals! He's only in a few scenes, but we wish he had more. Don't we always, though?

Listen to this week's episode for some good chats, more Batman talk, and occasional input from executive producer and former guest, Gio Bayani!

*Taylor Swift voice* Everything is green! Her clothes! Her crazy aunt's house!

That's right! This week we're talking about Alfonso Cuaron's 1998 film, Great Expectations! And we're joined by special guest, Scott Youngbauer (Movies That Made Us Gay, @scottyoungballer). There are so many fun and very 90s things to discuss, such as Ethan Hawke's hair and the soundtrack featuring Chris Cornell.

It's a real hoot, there are lots of impressions and noises of a Rubik's Cube being solved. If you had fun, be sure to check out their show on Netflix, live in person, or on iTunes!
