Hawkeyes

This week we're joined by friend of the show and sister of Jonathan, Gabby Zavaleta (you can only find her on letterboxd at @gabbyz). We're discussing the 1995 film, Search and Destroy! Wonderful cast, interesting concept, but did it land? Listen to find out what we think!

We're back from our break and entering a new decade of Ethan Hawke! The year, 1995. The place, Vienna. The girl, Julie Delpy. We're joined by Rachel Chapman (You've Got Hanks, @ladytomhanks) to talk about this classic indie romance!

We answer hard-hitting questions like, "Would you run off with a stranger you just met on a train?" and "How do you spell crepuscular?" Join us, for another fun episode of Hawkeyes! Cacaw!

This week, we're talking 1994 - the year of our births! Not only were we born that year, but Ethan Hawke decided to take that year to do lots of small appearances in a number of projects. Four projects to be exact! He had cameos in Quiz Show, White Fang 2: The Myth of the White Wolf, Floundering, and the music video for the Juliana Hatfield 3's song, "Spin the Bottle."

Join us as we dive into his 1994 performances!

We're back with our longest episode to date! Sorry and/or you're welcome! We just had a lot to say about this week's movie.

We're joined by Chris Svehla (Pooh Pals, @chrisbored) to discuss the Ethan Hawke classic, Reality Bites! Reality Bites also stars Winona Ryder, Ben Stiller, Janeane Garofalo, and Steve Zahn. What a cast!

This week, we're talking about the nerve-wracking and devastating 1993 film, Alive, with friend and cannibalism expert, Jorge Varon Chisi (@grilled_chisi)! With the help of our wonderful expert, we compare the real facts of the crash and survival of the Uruguayan rugby team to the portrayal in the film.

And, as always, Harper gets off topic several times and Jonathan shares a hawk fact or two. We are also visited by special executive producer, Lauren Bresnahan, in the studio who reminds us of the time Jesse McCartney sang "Like A G6."

Get pumped y'all! We have Barton Lewis (@brtnlewis) with us to talk Rich in Love! That's right! We're talking Albert Finney. We're talking Jill Clayburgh. We're talking Kathryn Erbe. And you know we're talking Ethan Hawke!

Here are the links to the 2 trailers we watched if you want to watch along with us:

This week, we're joined by friend of the show Lauren Bresnahan (https://lbresnahan.wixsite.com/portfolio) and we barely talk about the movie! And that movie is the 1992 film Waterland - starring Jeremy Irons, Sinead Cusack, Lena Headey, and (of course!) our very own Ethan Hawke.

Please note, we do discuss some sensitive topics in this episode (incest, abortion) so feel free to skip this episode if those are difficult subjects for you. We also mention donating to Yellowhammer Fund and the ACLU. Here are links where you can learn more: https://yellowhammerfund.org/ & https://www.aclu.org/

This week we're talking about the WWII drama, A Midnight Clear. We discuss its place in the canon of war films and how it compares to other Ethan Hawke movies we've watched so far.

We also have a "spirited discussion" about whether or not the switch from film to digital is what defines post-90s film. Tune in for that heated debate!

This week, Jonathan has some serious allergies! But we powered through it (and tried to edit out the sniffles) so you can hear us talk about the 1991 film, Mystery Date! We also talk about the game Mystery Date - so fun!

This week, listen as we made no attempt to edit out the 5 minutes we talk about A Star Is Born, making it clear that it was actually 2018 when we recorded this. We also talk about the 1991 film, White Fang, and discuss a variety of Jacks (Lemmon, MacFarland, and Shephard!).
