Not quite the same result or feeling after this public holiday special as the ones we had last week, but it was pretty special to play for the second year in a row on Anzac Day at our home away from home in Tasmania.

What a special Easter win against the Cats on Monday, for what is fast becoming a special group of footballers representing our proud club.

The kids can play, the experienced soldiers have a new outlook on life, and our coaching panel seems to be settled and working well together.

And it makes rating performances all the more sweeter after such a wonderful uplifting display - so this pod was definitely a fun one to put together.

Back to back losses in 2022 which means the player ratings pod for round four is generally slightly more melancholy than usual.Despite looking promising early, it was a good old-fashioned thrashing delivered to us by the rampaging Saints, and there were not too many players who could say the gave their all at the sunny MCG on Sunday.

In a first for 2022 we’ve had to record our snap player ratings after a loss, but we certainly didn’t go down without a fight.After a first quarter in which Carlton looked like winning by eight goals, this young Hawthorn side fought back admirably going down by just a point to the Blues. Who led the fightback, while who struggled to impose themselves on the contest?

In the hours following the game, Ashley Browne, Daniel Prins and Darren Levin assessed the performance of every player - from Harry Morrison (#1) who is quickly cementing his place in our best 22, to Jai Newcombe (#44) who was his usual battering ram self.

Sometimes you just have to ask and the internet delivers.

When Buddy lined up for his 1000th goal, an enthusiastic Hawks fan (to say the least) was standing right behind him on the boundary line.

Seeing the famous brown and gold in prime position as Buddy was about to make history was a welcome sight for many Hawks supporters watching the telecast at home.

In some ways this plucky young Hawks fan was representing all of us, and he really was unmissable jumping up and down amid a sea of red and white.

But who was this mystery man? And how did he manage to insert himself into one of the most iconic footy moments of all time?

We put out a tweet to find out.

Just a few retweets later we had our man. 

In this special investigative pod of Hawks Insiders, we spoke to the (other) man of the moment about his place in footy folklore: how he got there, what happened when he got on the ground, and why it trumps the 3-peat as his most treasured footy memory.
