I forgot to mention what eventually happened to the database:

Once it was completed, it wasn’t all that difficult to keep updated, so I maintained it up until I ran into some financial difficulties. At that point, I’d already understood that my greater goal of establishing a community of like-minded fans of TLF was not going to materialize, so it was an easy decision to cut the cost of the transcription service I’d been using from my monthly expenses.

So, I guess you could say that I invented a new type of ballgame, invited a bunch of people to play with me, got tired of playing, myself, and then left the game, but didn’t take my ball with me.

(This podcast is the newest type of ballgame I’ve invented, btw, and I’m still actively playing it😉)

P.S. I still get a request for the transcript database link every now and then from a TLF fan, and I promptly share it, but my heart is no longer in that project.

    EXPLICIT LANGUAGE WARNING!!!

I forgot to mention in the intro that I use a lot of coarse language that I wouldn’t normally use in the recording I introduce, but that’s only because I was speaking Lapsed-anese. (You’ll have to immerse yourself in The Lapsed Fan if you want to learn how to speak it, too.)

This episode serves as a sort of intermission between the parts of the episode(s) about some of the anonymous projects I’ve worked on; I haven’t forgotten that I’ve promised a Part 2 about those projects.

“Kitchen Remodel Effect” is more accurate than “Kitchen Remodel Theory”, because it’s not really a theory.

As points of information, “The Lapsed Solar System” and “Solar System” refer to TLF’s listenership, and "The Cochairmen" refers to the hosts of TLF.

    MISINFORMATION ALERT!!! MISINFORMATION ALERT!!!

My friend must’ve been referring to Joshua Bell’s “Stop and Hear the Music” experiment, which was conducted (pun acknowledged, but not intended) in Washington, D.C., not in New York City. I didn’t watch the YouTube video linked to below very carefully, btw, but, for the record, I didn’t see anyone respond by crying:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joshua_Bell

Also, while trying to follow my jumble of organizational arrows, I forgot to say in this episode that the side project I was so excited about was The 20-Question Conversation, which was in progress at the time of recording the original episode 10, but which is “completed” now, and dropping weekly at the time this Spring Cleaning episode is released.
