He alone is the one who takes us from death to life. 

Where do we see this in the Old Testament?  The story of Joseph. (Genesis 37, 39 – 50)

Favored by his father. (37:1-4)

Hated by his brothers.

Sold into slavery.

Assaulted by Potiphar’s wife.

Falsely imprisoned by Potiphar.

Forgotten by the baker. (40:23) 

Placed in the palace of Pharaoh. (41:1-4)

Prepared the nation for famine.

Provided food for the known world.

Faced his brothers.

Goes through the process of forgiveness.

Restored to his father and family. (50:19-21)

You can have the same kind of faith that led Joseph from Genesis 40:23 to 50:19-21 because the story of Joseph points to Jesus, our deliverer.

How does Jesus deliver?

He delivers from sin and death. (Condemnation - Romans 8:1-2)

He delivers from circumstances. (Storm - Mark 4:39)

He delivers in the circumstances. (Fire - Daniel 3:25)

He delivers through the circumstances. (Valley - Psalm 23:4a)
