Heal and Heel

Kim & Laney talk about embarrassing yourself, how to be transparent safety, and the definition of nerve in working dogs. It’s a good ‘un.

Amanda joins Laney and Kim for a far-reaching discussion. She shares stories from her career, thoughts on effective training, and the sport of Schutzhund as a whole. Amanda is a close friend of the show as Kim’s mentor and beloved guest of Kontrolled Chaos Working Dog Club.

Laney & Kim talk about enjoying the training journey… and think about why so many women are drawn to dog sports.

Kim and Laney talk about buying a puppy from someone you know vs. a relative unknown. How to mitigate risk… the attraction of the devil you know vs. the devil you don’t.

Laney & Kim discuss conviction. It sounds extreme to distill an episode down to one word, but like, that’s what it’s about. Conviction and dog training.

Welcome to Heal & Heel, a new podcast on competitive dog training and the lives that happen along the way. In the first episode of our new show, we go through Kim’s background. Who is Kim Ward and what are our goals with the new show?

Laney speaks with Sydney, @expeditionego, about her life with her border collie Ego. Sydney grew up in the world of agility and has started a path in the world of breeding as well. Sydney speaks about all the opportunities that have come from running a dog Instagram, what it is like having a dog in college, and much more.

Laney interviews a dolphin trainer! Walker has worked with big cats, dolphins, and a variety of marine life. He recently moved on to a new role as an aquarist, but is happy to speak at length about marine mammals under human care and the practice of training dolphins. The conversation is riveting, discussing marine animal controversies, little known species of wild cats, and so much more!

Laney speaks with Maris Ewing, breeder and lover of German Shepherd Dogs. Maris is an accomplished dog trainer, sport dog handler, pedigree nerd, you name it. She’s an incredible individual with tons of insight - into the GSD as it is meant to be and as it exists today. Take some time out of your day to step into her world - where the shepherd is, and always must be, a working dog. @bauernhofgsd , www.BauerhofGSD.com , Zwinger von dem Bauernhof German Shepherds

Laney sits down again with Mary, @caesarthebicolorgsd, to answer listener questions and just hang out. The girls talk about Mary’s dogs, her health journey, her trip to visit her birth mom, and so much more. Tune in to join the sleepover :)
