12:30 We should have been educated about our birth decisions, understand all the options that are out there for us & how to advocate for ourselves, but also how to find trusted medical providers that you can have a share of conversations with so that if it doesn’t go through the plan you want to change what you wanted to happen, you can do that in a trusting way with your provider & not feel like you go through birth trauma. - Kristen O'Dell
29:17 We also have to learn that when we do release that to our support system, we have to do that with trust. Trust that they are gonna take just fine care of that baby it might be in a little bit different way than we do it, but the baby will still be fine, healthy & fed. And it's our time to rest & not worry about some of those details that really don’t matter that much. - Kristen O'Dell
29:43 If you found that there’s a better way to fold the diaper to prevent leak & they’re not doing it, they’re going to figure that out on their own & that will be their own lessons to learn as a parent in a way. Sometimes when we push that on our partners they feel inadequate. - Kristen O'Dell
31:48 Becoming a mother is gonna get you to heal if you don’t, then your relationships will suffer because you don’t know how to communicate your needs. - Leashia Arrowsmith
33:50 Women don’t want anyone to feel something is wrong & so we normalise the postpartum symptoms that we’re having. - Kristen O'Dell
37:04 Women need the support & it doesn’t have to feel so heavy & hard. - Leashia Arrowsmith
43:23 Listen to all the information you get around you, not just the internet, listen to aunties, grandmas, paediatricians & dietitian consultants & take the information & create your own combination of motherhood that works for you. Don’t put pressure on yourself to make someone else’s journey yours, because there is no identical walk through motherhood that is the same for each person and it’s also not the same for yourself. - Kristen O'Dell
44:36 Becoming a mother & taking care of an infant that you need to find your own recipe for doing that & you take it from all the different parts of you here & you just try until what works for you. - Kristen O'Dell
