She has been a mum and a dad to her two children for many years, which wasn’t out of choice.

After the death of her husband she wasn’t prepared for the life she had to live.She also was involved in 2 toxic relationships 16 years later she is now a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, specialising in Bereavement, Grief and Loss.

Grief is the darkest and most painful experience in life.

Everyone is unique and we all grieve so differently.She believes that grief has 3 parts.

My guest Janice Richardson suffered terrible abuse by the hands of her father  

From the age of 9 to 23 she was kept a virtual prisoner by her father. 

Physically mentally and sexually abused. 

She was not allowed out of the house other than school and then later, a parttime job (that actually helped her stay sane and connect with the outside world, the TV even back then when there were only 4 channels helped with that too. 

Hard to believe the abuse went on for so long, but when her mother, brother and her own life has been threatened then she kept quiet, fear is a great silencer a fabulous tool in the wrong hands.

I am honoured to have Rie on my podcast on International Women's Day.  

Rie Pearson is from North Tyneside. She lives overlooking the sea and describes herself as Being on the Edge!  

Rie is married to David, and has three children, two in their twenties and a teenager.  

Rie's career background is in policing. She was a police officer for 27 years and retired on her 50th birthday due to ill health. She specialised in Domestic Violence and Safeguarding, working strategically for many years.  

Rie's book, "Be Kind. No Excuses" is a guide for teenagers and parents to raise awareness of the red-flag behaviours that are a precursor to abuse in intimate relationships.

#TriggerWarning My amazingly strong guest is Lurleen Hilliard, her story of strength and resilience is incredible and I cannot wait to have her join my podcast.  She is 54 years old and was married to her abuser, she was raped every day up to three times a day over a 20 yr period. She was his human punch bag but the bruising in general would never be seen as always on the body.  She buried her only daughter who was stillborn at 22 weeks after one of his brutal rapes and beatings.  While she was in the hospital giving birth he was off with his mistress and had left her other two sons with her parents. Giving birth to Chelsea alone knowing she was dead gave her a strength she never knew she had.  She set up Nolonger Victims in 2013 after a page she set up on FB went viral and since then it's grown so much. She's worked on Human Trafficking cases, International Child Abuse, and all forms of Domestic Violence.  One issue in particular that she's very vocal about is male victims of abuse.  Far too many men suffer in silence and it's only when tragedy strikes that people say well in hindsight but that's no use when it comes to any form of abuse.  She set up the #MenToo campaign last year to highlight the fact that men too are victims just like women.  Nolonger Victims was one of the very first online support and counseling services worldwide for all victims of abuse using social media.  She is also an International Expert Witness in Traumatic Stress & Crisis Management, an honor that was awarded to her many years ago in the USA due to her extensive work in this field.  Her motto is simple, silence enables abuse, but speaking out disables it.  Nobody should live a life of abuse as they're existing not living. We all need to share our stories so that we can give strength to others to do the same.  The more we speak out the more change can become a reality for all.  Listen in to hear her incredible story of trauma to triumph.

Amy Fleckney is my first guest on series three who is an international psychic medium, unconscious mind therapist & author.  What an incredible journey she has been on and it was an honour to meet her and connect.  Amy will be publishing her book on the 13th February so look out for that on Amazon, I will look forward to reading it.  Heal with the Reel is a podcast where I interview 'survivors to thrivers' of domestic and narcissistic abuse and their journey from trauma to triumph.    I wanted to show other women that there is life after abuse and we can come out stronger than ever and go on to achieve fantastic things.  Becoming resilient and finding our purpose is so important after the trauma of abuse and understanding why we accepted these horrendous relationships in our lives.  During my healing I began journaling in the beginning, doing lots of mirror work and positive affirmations and self-love meditations and learning all about what narcissism is and how to spot signs of red flags in relationships.    My journaling then became my book ‘Fix your Future’ and this helped me to look at my life as a whole and childhood traumas that often we hold onto without even realising.    I then added all the self-help techniques that I used in order that other women could learn the signs of coercive control and what tools I used to help me move through the trauma.    I taught myself how to self-publish which was a massive accomplishment for me but it took me 6 months from publishing my book to even tell anyone about it.    I began talking about it on stages on an audio app called Clubhouse, this helped me to move past my fear and go public.  The fear was so real to me, what if he finds out, what will others think, the list goes on…. what if, what if!    Then the what ifs changed to what now?  In Christmas 2021 I went public and began speaking up about my book, narcissism and spotting signs of red flags. I   began connecting with other survivors and started a podcast called ‘Heal with the Reel’ talking with survivors to thrivers and running my own club in Clubhouse called ‘Trauma to Triumph’ around awareness of unhealthy relationships.    The need for me to help other women find their confidence took over as my passion and I left my full time career to begin my own personal journey and follow my dreams.  If we can help at least one person my work is complete and if I can help many more then that makes my heart sing!
