Healing with HalimahNia: Lessons in Womanhood

Lailah powerfully asks the question and says, "Where do dark girls go when they need to feel protected? When they need to feel loved? Who do dark girls turn to when they need a guiding voice? How can dark girls be made free from predators and shaming eyes? Between ages 18 and 21 I struggled with my femininity and I couldn’t figure out who I was outside of my mistakes, what people thought of me, and who society was telling me to be. When I sought love and support from my community, they bashed me. They slut shamed me, objectified me and worst of all- I was excommunicated." We discussed her experience with Colorism, Sexual Assault, Sexual Shame and Finding God for herself in surroundings where she felt worthless. This was an amazing conversation that inspired and me so much.
