After a productive few days in Springfield, MO at this meeting, the question is asked, will we take this theme and challenge back to churches and ministries and be differentiated from our culture at large for the sake of the Gospel. There is also a discussion on local and global mission as a distinctive of the BMA work.

HCP - Ep. 95 - Under EASTER Pressure

It’s EASTER week! Praise God for the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!! But how quickly does our celebration take on pressures we were never intended to carry? As pastors, we stress out this week probably more than any other in the year. Is the lawn perfect, is the choir ready, will I preach the greatest sermon of my life, will we reach all who are in need of the Gospel? Can we just stop you there and say - it’s not on your shoulders!! Only the Father can draw someone to Himself (Jn. 6:44) so how do we prepare for this Sunday with a healthy heart and soul, joy in our faith for the hope we have in the resurrected Jesus and celebrate God’s goodness with our immediate and church families? One this episode of the HCP, Larry and Drew talk about this very topic. Sadly we place SO much weight on one service or weekend, when our focus should be on our church family as disciple makers who share the hope of the resurrection every single day of the year!

Hope you can take a deep breath this week, and serve God’s family with joy and peace in who you are in Christ and let go of some of the stress we pile on ourselves that we could never carry if we wanted to.

We pray God blesses our services, but more importantly, that God would equip and send out His people to proclaim the resurrection of Jesus every day of the year!

HCP - Ep. 94 - Ukrainian Refugees and Romania Church Planting (Live from Romania)

On this special podcast Larry calls is from Romania to discuss all that God is doing in the Ukrainian refugee crisis as well as how the mission of Jesus is going forward through church planting in this area of Romania.

Larry and His wife Shelby served here for 2 years developing leaders and planting churches and over the last 22 years have planted 18-20 churches. On this trip, Larry is checking and and encouraging his “Timothy” from those ministry years Daniel Bagosi. He and his wife Claudia pastor and plant churches all over the region.

HCP - Ep. 93 - What Is Discipleship? (Part 1)

On this episode of the HCP. Larry and Drew discuss the topic of discipleship and creating a culture of discipleship in our churches.  Jesus was clear in the great commission to “go and make disciples”, yet many churches and pastors don’t know how to define it, much less create a culture of expectation for our people to become  disciple makers. 

Why is this not being done in our churches? Why is it so hard to help people to be formed into disciple makers? 

Larry and Drew talk about some of these issues and some ideas for moving the ball forward. We’ll have to be courageous as we make a disciple-making culture the primary objective of our churches.

HCP - Ep. 92 - The OTHER Pandemics

On this episode of the HCP Larry and Drew discuss what other issues have developed in our lives and in the church as a result of the Covid 19 Pandemic.  Ed Stetzer wrote an article in Outreach Magazine called The 6 Other Pandemics - this is where the content of this podcast comes from.

We talk about the Pandemic of:

 - Mental Illness  - so many are struggling with depression and other issues here.

• Distrust - Who do we trust - different governmental officials and scientists can’t agree on the “science”
• Division - Sadly our country and the church have become a place of great division.
• Defamation - It has become easy to create false narratives of people instead of reconcile.
• Disorientation - If anything we’re confused about what we should do or how we should live with so many changing voices and instructions. 
• Disruption - Our lives have SO been disrupted along with what we knew as the church.

The question is how will we respond as leaders and pastors to these very real issues we’ve been left with.

If your arm hurts, it's obvious - you go to the doctor. Same for other physical issues, but what if you can't seem to describe what you're struggling with, but it's affecting different areas of your life? There's a good chance you need to consider what's going on in your soul.

HCP - Ep. 90 - The “3 D’s” (Disappointment, Discouragement and Depression)

You don’t have to lead in ministry very long in order to struggle with one of these 3 issues. As leaders we want to see God move in our people and grow in their faith. We want them to attend our events and participate in the mission of Jesus, but when they don’t (as much as you wish they would), you can get disappointed. Be careful not to let that disappointment lead to discouragement and ultimately depression.

On this episode, Larry and Drew discuss ways to be honest about what we’re feeling and relationships we need to engage in so that we can keep our feelings and expectations in check.

On this episode of the Healthy Church Podcast, Larry and Drew continue in their series called Foundations of a Health Church. Today they discuss the 3rd element - Vision.

Do you know the vision of your church? What is it that your church family is working towards? Believing for? Feeling led to pursue in your community? Vision is more than wanting cool lighting and a great worship team. Vision for the church should seek to be obedient to God and His Word for what the church should be about, but should also be seeking to “exegete” the community. Seek to find what needs are not being met and work to be the solution in the name of Jesus. Every church is planted exactly where God wants them to be (Acts 17) for “such a time as this”,  so are we making a difference in our community?

We talk about context, dreaming, praying, re-evaluating and reverse engineering what God has laid on your heart for your church.  Every church new or old needs a good understanding and stated VISION for who God wants them to become. Biblical and rooted in His Word for expectations of every church, yet contextual and timely for the place where God has planted them.
