The Coronavirus pandemic has taken a large and tragic toll on our world. Pandemics, however, are not only physical. What has humanity lost to the pandemic of pride? What has hatred, anger, fear, and impatience cost human society? What has unfaithfulness, violence, and carelessness cost you? You, like all humans, were made in God’s image for a life of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. This is the truly healthy, truly human life God desires for you. But ever since Adam, humanity has too often loved sickness instead of health and settled for dehumanizing and ultimately destructive ways of life. Jesus came to restore you to the life that really is life. His salvation is not the climactic end of a journey towards God that relegates life to waiting for an escape to heaven. Rather, His salvation is the beginning of an adventure towards true health and true humanity, a life that gets swept up into His great plans to redeem you, me, and the entire world. Come then, let us walk together with God by the power of the Spirit into a more fully healthy, more fully human life.
