In this episode, we follow up with God's Spirit being present after the initial creation of the world. We talk about the dark, formless, empty and messy state the earth was in at the beginning. There are words studies, bible study tips and clarifying explanations of this beginning portion of the creation story.

One big question is if God created the heaven and earth, why were they empty? One easy answer is that He could have just begun the process and made the two distinct spaces and the rough elements and outline, without any organized form within either of the two distinct spaces. Others suggest Genesis 1:1 is a headline and 1:2 is where the beginning starts.

The main takeaway in the episode is that after God had started creation, His Sprit was there over the darkness and the world in its messy initial state.

In this introductory episode, we discuss the meaning behind the name of Genesis. We also talk about the complicated authorship of the book. Genesis is regarded by many to have been written in the 13th Century BC, and would have finished being written and compiled after his death. It’s also probable that he drew on previous unnamed writings himself. Another theory coinciding with this is that most of Genesis was the compilation of several ancient texts that were refined into the modern day Torah.

Either way this doesn’t subtract from the book and the timeless and essential message for humankind. Some resources for learning more about the book are linked below.
