Hear Me Now the Preaching Podcast goes on hiatus until October 2021
This is an encore presentation of episode 10, from March of this year, where Dr. Nixon first explained the rewards of learning to preach Bible doctrine in a Christ-centered way. Listen for the first time, if you missed it. Listen again, if you caught it, and be encouraged as you continue to grow and we continue to pursue biblical, Christ-centered preaching.
In this episode, Dr. Nixon continues his sermon on the spirituality of the law based on The Sermon on the Mount of Matthew 5. He looks more closely into some of the examples Jesus uses to explain God’s law on another level, leading to a better understanding of what it means to say God’s Law is spiritual.
In this episode, Dr. Nixon begins another doctrinal sermon for examination and interpretation in the light of Jesus Christ, which has been the focus for a several weeks – preaching Christ in the doctrine. Here, the doctrine being studied is the law. Based on the description of the law in Matthew 5, the key passage for this sermon, Jesus exposes the deeper meaning of God’s law beyond mere rules and regulations.
Dr. Nixon discusses “Hear Me Now Ministries”, which launched yesterday with a live event on the website, hearmenowministries.com., simulcast on the John Nixon Sr. Facebook page and You Tube Channel. He describes the purpose of this ministry and how it is poised to help build pastors and church leaders in the context of the times to make our pulpits stronger and make us better equipped spiritual leaders.
Dr. Nixon concludes his sermon on the Beatitudes of Matthew 5 ending with an outline you can adapt to your preaching needs. Along the way he discusses the Preaching Principle of “less is more”, which applies to this sermon in particular, but also, to biblical preaching in general. He ends the podcast with an exciting announcement about the Hear Me Now Ministries website.
Dr. Nixon responds to a specific request from a listener to write a sermon based on the Beatitudes of Matthew 5. He delves into these blessings Jesus pronounces on His disciples, then and now, as we go through the ups and downs of this life. They are God’s promises to bless us supremely in all circumstances.
In this episode, Dr. Nixon concludes his analysis of his own sermon based on Psalm 73, which he preached two weeks ago. This time he delves into the main point of the sermon regarding the character of God, which brought some objection from its original hearers. He critiques his interpretation on this topic of vital importance by comparing scripture with scripture.
In this episode Dr. Nixon analyzes one of his own sermons from Psalm 73, which he recently preached, to examine whether he was true to the biblical text. Using the Berean model of Acts 17, he addresses objections raised by listeners in the aftermath of the sermon, entitled “The Last Word.”
In this episode Dr. Nixon discusses the hear me now ministries website that is scheduled to open next month. He describes the overall purpose of the site and some of the things that will offered for ministers and for others, including panel discussions and online theology courses, among other things.
