In this episode of Hear Me Now, the Preaching Podcast, Dr. Nixon continues with the theme, “Preaching Christ in the Doctrine.” He picks up the sermon on the Sabbath based on Matthew 12:1-8 and completes it. Then, he begins a second sermon on the Sabbath based on a passage from the Old Testament. It serves as a first-time opportunity to practice a topic that will be featured in a future episode, “Preaching Christ from the Old Testament.”

He shows how a doctrinal sermon can do more than just mention Christ. It can reveal Christ on a deeper level.

In this episode of “Hear Me Now, the Preaching Podcast”, Dr. Nixon continues his series on “Preaching Christ in the Doctrine.” He shares tips on how to find Christ in the biblical doctrine and the secret of positioning yourself for Christ-centered doctrinal preaching based on how you choose your main text.  He then introduces a Christ-centered sermon on one of the premiere doctrines of the Church.

This week on Hear Me Now, the Preaching Podcast, Dr. Nixon begins a series on “Preaching Christ in the Doctrine.” Contrary to the traditional way of approaching doctrinal preaching, as conveying information, Dr. Nixon promotes a method that puts Christ at the center of the doctrine so that its ultimate meaning is revealed in Him, and the believer is not only informed but transformed.  This is the beginning of a series on Christ centered doctrinal preaching that will lead to the actual writing of doctrinal sermons using the 5-step process.

In this episode, Dr. Nixon writes a sermon based on the parable of Jesus recorded in Matthew 20 – the workers in the vineyard. He follows the text as it dramatizes one of the overlooked secrets of divine grace, that it is unfair.  He also discusses the biblical principle of “divine freedom.”  Hear how God’s unfairness, supremely exemplified in the cross of Christ, saves us from eternal condemnation, if we believe.

In this episode Dr. Nixon returns to the first chapter of the Gospel of John to write another sermon. In episode 7 he used John 1:1-5. This time he focuses on the passage he describes as “one of the most compelling texts in all of scripture” - John 1:14.  Listen and follow along as Dr. Nixon unfolds the powerful Implications of “the Word made Flesh.”

In this episode Dr. Nixon builds a sermon using the 5-step process, based on John 1:1-5.  He deals with the mystery of the Word, as the Timeless Creator and Redeemer of all humanity.  Listen as he addresses the issue of past sins and how the timelessness of Christ addresses them in His mercy.

In this episode Dr. Nixon tells the story of his personal journey in the ministry beginning when he was 22-years old. He shares some of the ups and downs of ministry, the wins and losses, and the things he’s learned along the way. He also talks about the unique experiences he’s had in ministry over the years. In this episode, Dr. Nixon picks up where he left off in episode 4, "Two Sides of the Same Coin," exploring the deeper meaning of the events of January 6 and January 20. He writes a sermon from John chapter 12 using the experience of one he calls "the American Disciple" to examine the values and worldview in a way that is relevant for Christians.

In this episode of Hear Me Now, Dr. Nixon looks at the opposing events of January 6, 2021 and January 20, 2021 – the attack on the Capitol Building and the Inauguration of Joe Biden – and asserts that they are not as contradictory as they may at first seem. When one looks beneath the surface, they turn out to be two sides of the same coin.
