Relationships are hard to come by, so it is understandable that we often stick them out long after they have expired. You could turn a blind eye to these scenarios but have you considered the toxicity of the relationship? Have you considered how it may be interfering with the achievement of the goals you have set for yourself? Or have you developed new skills such as conflict resolution, boundary setting, etc.?
Relationships are a crucial part of our individual development. Just as they can help build us they can also be(become) destructive to us. Remaining present in your relationships enough to recognize the signs of where you are in that friendship in order to continue to tend to that relationship or to prune it out of your life for your health.
