In this episode, Keely and Jae interview Emily McLain, the new Executive Director for Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon (PPAO) and Laurel Swerdlow, the Advocacy Director, about the various services that Planned Parenthood provides to the community, as well as, the federal and state initiatives to defund Planned Parenthood and specific healthcare services. This episode is a crash course in the current political climate around women’s reproductive and healthcare rights. Also discussed are the specific service-offerings and resource groups Planned Parenthood offers to the LGBTQ community.

In this episode Keely and Jae visit Cuddle Up To Me, the professional platonic cuddling organization here in Portland, OR, to interview certified Master Cuddler, Kira Cuddles. Kira discusses the research behind the importance of touch and effects of touch deprivation, as well as the amount of touch across various cultures in the world and how it correlates to greater quality of life and overall happiness. In the latter half of the episode Kira explains the professional touch therapy services that Cuddle Up To Me offers and the benefits that clients receive from platonic cuddling.

Our first 2018 episode is with Angie Gunn, the board chair of SPEEC, which is the Sex Positive Education and Event Center here in Portland, Oregon. Angie is an AASECT certified sex therapist and an advocate for inclusive, sexual empowerment and sexual expression. Also joining the discussion is Mychel Estevez, another SPEEC board member who brings years of experience as an instructor in gender studies and inequality. Mychel has worked within the university setting on improving institutional conditions for people who do not conform to gender norms and/or heteronormative standards. This episode is all about SPEECing out for sexual empowerment!

Keely and Jae visit the Mother Tree Center to meet with Jesse Remer, co-founder of Mother Tree Doula Services, one of the leading doula organizations in Portland, Oregon. In this episode, Jesse explains how birth doulas can provide support for everything from unmedicated births to cesarean births to postpartum recovery and breast/chest feeding support. Jesse is also a sex positive doula trainer and teaches childbirth classes! Listen in to hear some of Jesse's experiences and learn more about doula resources!
