Welcome back to Hearts & Stripes podcast.  We took a Spring Break that allowed us to evaluate what is next for Hearts & Stripes Podcast and today I’m excited to share what that looks like.  First and foremost, thank you for being a listener, whether you’ve listened to one episode or binge listened to them all, you are appreciated.  This podcast started as my way of bridging the gap between service couples and marriage resources.  The platform has grown into a national holiday, Military Marriage Day (August 14th) and a way to serve couples to meet their relationship needs.  I could have never imagined this would all come from starting a podcast.  Moving forward we have decided to shift from a yearly seasonal podcast to releasing seasons around Military Marriage Day and potentially again around Valentine’s Day.  Here is what the new season of Hearts & Stripes has in store:

We are tackling the topic of marriage during deployment with our friends at MilHousing Network.  Listen in on Lindsey Litton as she takes the lead in interviewing me on this topic.  We break down all things pre deployment through send off and provide tips to help you navigate that time.  Here are things to prepare your marriage for deployment:

Communication:

- Is your paperwork in order? (Will, power of attorney, etc.) 

- Make time to discuss your plan of action.  Use the 5 Love Languages and think of ways to fill one another's cup.

The Sendoff:

- How will you say "see you later"?

- Create space to allow your kids to express their thoughts and emotions.

The In Between:

- Are you preparing your spouse for their return?  Share new routines and changes so your spouse is aware.

- Share your personal and collective wins to create points of connection.

Happy Black History Month! Today, on Hearts & Stripes podcast we hope to spark some excitement to think about your legacy through dreaming. In this episode I'm invited all my service couples to dream again, individually and collectively. Here are some of our big takeaways:

1. Think about previous or new dreams personally and with your partner. What dream would yo like to reach for?

2. Your dream will help you visualize the path to that end goal. Are you ready to lean into the dream? Are you ready to do what it takes to make it happen? (Note: This is Phase 1 in the CARE Method - Carful Consideration)

3. Building a legacy and dreaming again will lead to you seeing more wins in your life! Dreaming is the first step, which is followed by action.

4. If your dream doesn't scare you, it's not big enough. Your dream isn't purpose focussed if it's all about you.
