She was the adulterous wife. As a result of her unfaithfulness, He decided to kick her out of His house. She became exiled to the nations. Then, because Yeshua loved her still, he decided to lay down His life for her and He chose to die on the tree in order to make a way for her to return to Him as His bride. In Jeremiah 31:10, we are told: Hear the word of the LORD, O nations,

And declare it in the isles afar off, and say, ‘He who scattered Israel will gather him,

And keep him as a shepherd does his flock.’ Who is the one that scattered Israel? The Lawgiver and the Bridegroom. Why did He scatter Israel? Because she was an unfaithful to Him. As a result of breaking the covenant, she was unfaithful to her Bridegroom. In her rebellion, she is adulterous. In her repentance, she will be given living water. Yeshua provides a way for her to return, by dying on the tree, and by making a renewed covenant with her by writing the torah on her heart. In the last session, we saw that in taking away the stone, this is prophetic of taking away the stony heart that does not want to follow the Torah. The new covenant (Jer. 31:31-33) takes away the heart of stone and gives us a heart of flesh so that the Torah is written upon our hearts. Will the blind eyes of the exiles of Israel be opened to that Yeshua is Messiah? Yes. Will the blind eyes of Chrisitianity be opened that if you believe Yeshua is the Messiah you need to follow the Torah? Yes. How do we know this? Yeshua made the prophetic proclamation and He rolled away the stone that was in front of Lazarus grave and then He is going to resurrect Lazarus. He did this literally then, but will do it again, prophetically for the “exiles of Israel” as a corporate resurrection.

And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus said unto them, “Loose him, and let him go.” John 11:44

When Lazarus (who represents the exiles of Israel) comes forth, he is bound up. Why? Because he broke the covenant and didn’t follow the Torah. Yeshua is commanding him to “loose him and let him go.” Loose him and let him go means “teach him the Torah.”

The exiles of Israel will be set free from being bound up when they are taught the Torah. (Isaiah 61: 1-3)

In the last session we saw that Yeshua is going to gather and unite the 12 tribes of Israel during the time known as Jacob’s trouble. This time is also known as the “third day” of Hosea 6: 2, also known as “the day of the Lord.” In order for this to happen, the exiles of Israel must be awakened out of their sleep. They must awaken to know that Yeshua is their Messiah, but they also must be awakened to the fact that Yeshua is the Lawgiver and that we express our faith in and love for Yeshua by following His Torah by the Holy Spirit.

In order for the exiles of Israel to return to the Torah of Yeshua, a change of heart must happen. The stony heart is this: if you believe Yeshua is the Messiah but you don’t have a heart for following His Torah. In John 11: 39, we read: “Yeshua said, “Take away the stone.” This removal of the stone represents the removal of the stony heart, to be replaced with a heart of flesh. A stony heart does not want to follow the Torah of Yeshua. How so?

But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear. Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the Torah, and the words which the LORD of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets. Zech 7: 10-11

While Martha as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him but Mary sat still in the house. John 11:20

In this segment, we see that Martha is a prophetic picture of Christianity and the attitude of Christianity toward the exiles of Israel. Mary is a prophetic picture and represents Judaism and their attitude toward the exiles of Israel. We also see that “Mary sat still in the house.” This is a Hebrew idiom for “sitting at the feet of your rabbi” or for sitting at your house to study the Torah.

We see this prophetic picture developed further from the story of Martha and Mary in Luke 10: 38-42: Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Yeshua’s feet and heard His word.

Who received Yeshua into her house? Martha. Who receives Yeshua as Messiah? Christianity. Martha has a sister, Mary, who sits at Yeshua’s feet and listens to his word. Judaism is a sister religion. Yeshua is the one who gave us the Torah at Mt Sinai. Judaism loves to study the Torah.

But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.” And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10: 40-42

Mary chose to sit at her rabbi’s feet; and this is a Hebrew idiom for seeking to study and follow the Torah. Listen in as Eddie develops this prophetic parable between Martha and Mary!

And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother. John 11:19

Comfort is a “code word” that is associated with the end of the exile for Israel.

Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, says your God. Isaiah 40:1

For the LORD shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody. Isaiah 51:3

Wilderness and waste places = exile.

Eden and garden of the Lord = the Messianic era

Comfort = end of the exile

And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away. Isaiah 35:10

It is Yeshua who comforts the exiles as He comes to regather them.

Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see, and see not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they are a rebellious house. Ezekiel 12: 2

In this session, Eddie discusses how Martha is a prophetic picture of Christianity and Mary is a prophetic picture of Judaism. He compares Mary and Martha to two sisters found in Ezekiel 23, Aholah and Aholibah:

And the names of them were Aholah the elder, and Aholibah her sister: and they were mine, and they bare sons and daughters. Thus were their names; Samaria is Aholah, and Jerusalem Aholibah. Ezekiel 23: 4

We see that Aholah represents Samaria or the Northern Kingdom, and Aholibah represents Jerusalem, or the Southern Kingdom. Both sisters in this chapter, commit adultery against the God of Israel.

Mary and Martha, whose names mean rebellious, are likened unto the nation of Israel and breaking the covenant at Mt Sinai. They are a spiritual picture of Northern kingdom and Southern kingdom.

Similarly, Lazarus is a prophetic picture of the exiles of Israel.

Lazarus name means, “one whom God helps”. He is sick. This is a prophetic picture of the exiles of Israel who are described as afflicted, poor and sick. He is from Bethany. Bethany means house of the poor or afflicted. Because of breaking the covenant at Mt Sinai, the exiles of Israel are poor and afflicted. Yeshua is told in John 11: 3 “Lord the one whom you love is sick.” Literally it is speaking of Lazarus, but in a deeper prophetic meaning, the one whom the Lord loves is the nation of Israel. The nation of Israel is sick for departing from the Lawgiver, Yeshua and from His Torah.

Yeshua is going to go to Lazarus, he is going to resurrect Lazarus, which is a prophetic picture of gathering and uniting the 12 tribes of Israel. Just as He was glorified when He redeemed the Hebrews in delivering them out of Egypt, He will be glorified again, when he gathers and unites the 12 tribes in of Israel in the end of days.
