We begin our first look at the three main musical cultures of the Bible with Babylon.  We will hear two expert scholars in their respective fields of Assyriology, Dr Anne Kilmer, and in Assyrian and Archeo-Musicology, Richard Dumbrill speak regarding CBS10997 – one of the earliest musical cuniform tablets from Babylon.  While buth areas have along history behind them. It is a relatively new science that we still know little about when it comes to Babylon and their musical systems.  In part two we will take a closer look at Babylonian music.

Yashua/Jesus told us to expect rough times – He said, “If they treat your Lord and Master this way, what do you think they will do to you?” Look at the way He was treated! The session today is about counting the cost before we step over the line of commitment. Know what to expect and don’t shrink back at the first sign of trouble. I play music from Psalm 91 which reassures us that we can dwell in the secret place of the Most High – El Elyon – He will cover us with His wings; even in the rough times. In 1 Kings 18, we find 100 prophets in caves, hiding. A prophet is supposed to be among the people letting them know what God is saying. In this episode, we will look at Psalm 9, 40, and 92 to see how David encourages us to declare and proclaim the wonders of what God has done for us. Even though things may not always be going so smoothly, if we will just proclaim to the world around us now wonderful our Heavenly Father has been to us, these passing difficulties will become insignificant in the whole scheme of things.

On this Passover weekend I talk about the wonderful celebration of the sacrifice of Yashua – the Passover Lamb – for us – to offer us Eternal Life! I also talk about how David had Solomon render justice to people who had wronged him during his running from Absolum. In Psalm 7, David calls on God to be righteous and deal with those who plan wickedness. He asks that they fall into the pits that they have dug to trap others; that they become victims of their own nefarious plans. As we see the chaos in the world around us, and the harmful policies of the leadership continuing to unfold, we can be assured by what David wrote that they will fall into the pits they have dug.

As Shirley and I were reading in 2 Samuel 15 when David is being chased by his son Absolum, we noted that he prayed to God to confound Ahithophel’s council and cause the plans to be thwarted. In this episode I will be reading from Psalm 52, 57, and 142 which are what David wrote while he was on the run from King Saul. In each psalm, David recognizes the evil plans against him but ultimately appeals to God for his deliverance. Much of what we see in David’s life is being repeated in our political scene today around the world. We would be wise to follow David’s lead and appeal to our Heavenly Father for His deliverance. In this episode we are going to take a look at Psalm 133 that speaks of our unity and how pleasing it is to our Heavenly Father. It COMMANDS a blessing. Isn’t it interesting how so many leaders and organizations are working so hard to sow disunity and division among the people? If they can get us to be at each other’s throats and opposing each other then they can bring their plans into place. I believe it is time to decide who we are going to go through tough times with and begin to practice how to maintain unity and harmony with each other so we can avoid the plans of the enemy. If we don’t take the bait, the enemy has nothing on us.
