News and commentary for Monday, 9 December, 2024.
January is still a long ways off…
• Is there anything bad or wrong about eschatology or being concerned about the end time?
• What does the concern about the end time have to do with darkness and light?
As we read what the apostle Shaul, or Paul, wrote to the congregation of Messianic believers in his letter to the Thessalonians, in chapter five, Rabbi Steve Berkson points out that Shaul was doing some damage control regarding the erroneous teaching about the return of Messiah even back then.
• What was the prayer Rabbi Berkson prayed when it came to teaching about the end time?
• How does one “prepare” for the return of Messiah?
This teaching was given during the 2020 election year, and Rabbi Berkson imparts wisdom about our mindset toward our nation’s politics and Elohim’s role in them.
• Does being drunk only pertain to alcohol? What does being sober look like?
In Thessalonians chapter five, the apostle gives direction to the believers on how they should live their lives as they look forward to Messiah’s return. Rabbi Berkson unpacks what ‘sober’ looks like and what is meant by putting on the breastplate of belief and love and the helmet of the Rabbi Berkson unpacks what ‘sober’ looks like and what is meant by putting on the breastplate of belief and love, as well as the helmet of the expectation of deliverance.
In verses 12-13, Shaul writes that he begs the believers to “know” those who labor among you and are over you in the Master and admonish you and to hold them in the highest regard in love. Rabbi Berkson relates what it’s like to be one of those in leadership and then explains how you should treat those in leadership with whom you interact.
• Should your relationship with leadership be based on someone else’s experience with that leadership?
Once again, Rabbi Steve Berkson delves deeper into scripture to uncover more dimensions of Darkness and Light.

This week’s parsha, Vayetze (Genesis/Bereshiet 25:19-32:3) follows the story of Yakov/Jacob after he leaves home and heads to the place of his mother Rivka/Rebeccah’s family.
And like so many things concerning the Patriarchs, it is not only maximally Politically NOT-Correct, but practically a litmus test for how far so much of the sun-god-day church has departed from the lessons of Scripture.
The Erev Shabbat reading:
There is a whole lot that much of ‘xtianity’ really doesn’t like about this one. And for the same reasons, some of the context may even seem confusing to ‘modern sensitivities.’
Why, for example, is the man who lied to his father to “usurp” his elder brother Esau’s blessing, and birthright, also held up as an icon of “emet,” the Hebrew word for ‘truth’? And why would the Creator of the Universe and Author of Scripture choose to use a man with four wives to bring forth His people?
Is it possible that there’s something in this story that ‘the Church’ would prefer to overlook, or outright hide?
This story is not merely NOT-PC. It’s a glaring example of what so pervades the world that so hates His Word today:
The combined two-part teaching is here:
The Torah teachers reviews Isaiah chapter 58, and then chapter 59.
News, commentary, and an extended look at the major events of the week ending Saturday, 7 December, 2024. And while the date suggests “infamy,” at least WW 3 hasn’t yet gone nuclear.
Host Mark Call has consistently cautioned that this interval, between that election and the inauguration over two months hence, are probably the most perilous times in our lives. We may see treason pardoned, and that is far more likely than a “peaceful transfer of power.”
David Justice and Mark Call discuss the major news and propaganda events of the week.
And this week “in between” is certainly quite a bit different that what we’ve been used to lately: While nuclear escalation, global meltdown, and truly satanic-level perfidy still abounds, most of the news is actually a bit more “subtle” this week.
It’s what lies below the surface that matters most.
It is increasingly, even undeniably, clear that we are well into one of the greatest, and most hi-tech, eras of censorship and deception in all of human history. Arguably, we have been warned, and our Creator and King says, “See, I have told you beforehand.”
So we at least have some clue about what is coming, so as to “be not deceived.”
So how do we do that?
