Syndicated 5 minute program sold to radio stations across the USA in the late 1940's and early 1950's as "fillers"... when a station had a 5 minute time slot they needed to "fill" they could use this show to entertain while at the same time using the long organ pieces to hawk a station contest, a product, some sort of announcement... I have removed the rather tedious organ music on this track to offer something a little different... strange... but different. Some fun with sound effects. The iconic Detective Joe Friday (Jack Webb) performed in about 240 radio episodes of the most realistic and popular police procedural show of the 1950's and 60's (television). This is the 126th show "The Case of the Big Hit and Run Killer." Introductory track has some background material on the series followed by the episode from 1951. The staccato monotone delivery of Sgt. Friday may sound unrealistic today, but back in the day it was ground breaking and considered as realistic as it can get. Stories are realistic and of course the music is also classic! Dragnet Theme Music. The theme music for Dragnet, written by Walter Schumann, was known for more than just the theme, as it enhanced the tension of the drama and there would be loud sudden bursts when there was a revelation. The theme was used for the Dragnet radio show and then the TV series, More Dragnet in our "Mystery Detective Crime" Playlist.

A radio adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's 1884 story about, well, about "The Body Snatchers" who supplied physicians/surgeons with bodies on which to do research. Track has background information on Suspense series and a brief intro to this particular episode starring British actor, Charles Laughton. It is a terrific example of one of the most popular radio programs ever produced during the Golden Age of Radio and beyond!

Making its debut on NBC in 1944, Boston Blackie was the spinoff of the Boston Blackie movies. Originally Chester Morris and RIchard Lane played Blackie and Inspector Faraday. Scheduled as a summer replacement for Amos 'n Andy the show was set to run just 13 summer episodes. The series turned out to be extremely popular and on April 11, 1945 it had its own time slot as it returned to the airwaves. This time around Richard Kollmar played Blackie, Lesley Woods and Jan Miner played girlfriend, Mary Wesley, Maurice Tarplin, Richard Lane and Frank Orth served at various times as Inspector Faraday and Shorty was played by Tony Barrett. Track features intro to the show... some background on the series... This episode was #73 of a total of 260. The series finished in 1950 by running 42 reruns from January 4 to Oct 25, 1950. On August 8, 1964 the 36th President of the United States, Lyndon Baines Johnson needed a few pair of trousers, so he called the company that had made some for him and ordered 6 new pairs with some alterations that he wanted to be done. This is about a 3 min conversation with one of the owners of the company (Haggar) and the President as he describes what alterations he wants in the new pairs of trousers that he is ordering. President Johnson was President from 1963 (after the assassination of President Kennedy) until 1969. He was from Texas. His Vice President was Hubert Humphrey and he successor was Richard Nixon.
