Another post of the popular WW II era series, "Jubilee" with host Ernie "Bubbles Whitman"... Ida James, the King Cole Trio and Louis Jordan and his Tympany Five are featured in the Armed Forces Radio Service broadcast from November 8, 1943. I have several "Jubilee" shows posted on Heirloom Radio so check them out... you will notice that the show was primarily targeted toward African Americans who were serving in the military during WW II. These shows were not aired on commercial radio broadcasts but were among the most popular shows the AFRS produced and did a lot to raise the morale of the troops. Groucho takes on contestants in this Nov. 16, 1949 episode when the secret word was "Grass." If it was said by a contestant, $10 was added to their prize money. Eve Arden, Gale Gordon, Richard Crenna ... have the lead role in an excellent cast of "Our Miss Brooks." Set in the late 1940's and early 50's this show was popular on radio and television.
