The Weird Circle was a syndicated radio drama produced in New York and broadcast between 1943-45. The series was a ZIV production produced at RCA's New York studios and licensed by the Mutual Broadcasting System and later NBC's Red Network. It produced 39 shows, mostly radio adaptations of classic horror stories from the pens of the world's best known and respected supernatural fiction writers, one of which was of course Edgar Allan Poe. This track features the January 2, 1944 production of "The Murders in the Rue Morgue" ... a detective horror mystery written by Poe in 1841 to be followed by another case featuring the same Detective C. The adventure continues: Episode 45: The creature in the Alpha indicates he comes from the constellation Libra. He's a robot! What's wrong with the spaceship Alpha? Something is holding the ship onto the planet. Episode 46: Can the robot free the ship from this planet? Zen insists that Dantro and Slats come to Klee, the ruler of the planet. Episode 47: Trapped on the planet of Torino, are Dantro, the robot and Slats. Zen the agent of Klee, ruler of Torino, has been instructed to bring the three before his master/ Dantro plans to obey, even though the robot senses that Zen is not to be trusted. Dantro threatens to blow up the planet unless he sees Klee!

Mercer was the co-founder of Capitol Records - He was a songwriter, Lyricist, Record producer, Record label Owner...earned Academy Awards for lyrics "On the Atchison, Topeka and the Santa Fe" in 1946. "In the Cool, Cool, Cool of the Evening" in 1951. "Moon RIver" in 1961 and "Days of Wine and Roses" in 1962. Many of his songs are in the Great American Songbook. Great Expectations was Charles Dickens 13th novel. It was the second novel that he wrote that was written in the first person, the first being David Copperfield. In the story we follow the life of a young orphan boy named Pip. Miss Havisham, Joe Gargery, Estella, Mr. Jaggers, Herbert Pocket, Bentley Drummie... the list of characters in this masterpiece goes on and on...
