In 1963 Erik Bauersfeld who was the Director of Berkley's Drama and Literature Dept of radio station KPFA-FM for 31 years, produced a horror program called "Black Mass" or "The Black Mass" Often featuring radio adaptations from famous horror/suspense writers... they were superbly done. Bauersfeld played many of the roles and in this track "Nightmare" is the only actor, but his vocal talents were tremendous and the energy that he put into his performances rivaled that of Peter Lorre. Circa 1944 a track featuring the "Kollege of Musical Knowledge" broadcast from the Coast Guard Station in San Diego, CA via the Armed Forces Radio Service. Substituting for the "Professor" Kay Kyser, is Phil Harris in this big band musical quiz show developed by Kay Keyser. Eventually moved to television from 1951-58, so many of the TV and Radio shows were being produced at the same time. During the 1950's it is reported that episodes of the television show were edited together and released as 16 feature movies by Monogram Pictures.
