One of the most talented and funny comedians ever... Victor Borge does a bit about the Mozart Opera, specifically The Magic Flute. Borge was a veritable one-man show and he shows his talent as he sings all the parts, plays the music, and sums up the silly side of opera in the way that only Victor Borge could do it. Orson Welles played Lamont Cranston (aka Shadow) from 1937-38. The show ran until 1954 so there were many others who took on the role. Brett Morrison was the actor who did the most episodes. In this 1938 episode, bombings and sinking of U.S. Navy ships are taking place and the one thing that ties them together is that they were all serviced at the Sag Island Shipyard. Lamont Cranston, as the Shadow, believes a mechanical inspector named Steve Buckler is the villain, but most likely not the brains behind the operation. A confrontation takes place with a man who has a strong desire to kill "The Shadow" Orson Welles plays this role to perfection. "The Shadow" has its on Playlist on this podcast... and the number of episodes is growing.

Set in the 30th Century, Commander-in-Chief of the Space Patrol, Buzz Corey defended the United Planets of the Universe aboard his spaceship known as the Terra V (5). With his young assistant, Cadet Happy, calling out responses like "Smokin' rockets, Commander!" and always asking simplistic questions that allowed Buzz to explain things to the listeners at home) this show was not only a success on CBS television, but was transitioned to radio as well two years after being on TV! The Old Time Radio Researchers group has cataloged about 118 episodes... this is the premier episode on Heirloom Radio... "The Hole in Empty Space" Keep in mind that though this is classified as a juvenile sci-fi adventure series, a lot of adults got hooked into the shows as well. The advertising segments are left in as are the offers for kids to get Space Patrol gear of all kinds by sending in box tops and a dime or a nickle... so they could use the same gear as the crew of Terra V.
