January 11, 2025@SeekingPlumb | Unpacking "the bill of goods" we were sold.Click here to reply to @SeekingPlumb "I wanted to unpack a bit further the bill of goods that we were sold in reference to the previous episode, rather than recap it if you missed it, the link is below. I'm still boggled by some of these things, right? If economists know that capitalism is designed to destroy itself, sociologists know that democracy and capitalism sort of work hand in hand and the inevitability if these things are not structured well is to lead into authoritarianism."...more5minPlay
January 10, 2025@SeekingPlumb | Feeling helpless? The breadth & depth of the bill of goods we were sold.Click here to reply to @SeekingPlumb "But these ideas of for the people, by the people are still perpetuated. But it's a lie, right? It's, it's to keep us rocking and rolling along as if we can still achieve the American dream, as if these things still matter. But it's all misdirection, smoke and mirrors. The scales are being lifted from our eyes."...more5minPlay
January 09, 2025@SeekingPlumb | The human "purr" heals. ๐คฏ You, too, have "superpowers"! ๐คช๐๐ปClick here to reply to @SeekingPlumb "He touches on this in the video, but I had forgotten. And so I look up humming and allergies, sinus infections, asthma, okay? And it turns out that one of the benefits to humming is to impact these things. So apparently we have nitric oxide that, when you are breathing through your nose, flows naturally the nitric oxide, and it acts as a bronchodilator. So basically, it keeps all the bronchial tubes open in your lungs so that you can breathe well."...more5minPlay
January 07, 2025@SeekingPlumb | โ ๏ธ An atheist ponders: If "God is love", what does this say about human concepts of love? โ ๏ธClick here to reply to @SeekingPlumb "If this is seen as the epitome of wow, I'm going to let it sit there. And I realize that there may be many of you that want to jump in. If you're coming here to preach or to give me scripture references, or to explain the frameworks or the way this all fits from a believer's perspective, there's no need, really. I've been there, done that."...more5minPlay
January 05, 2025@SeekingPlumb | To be a thermometer or thermostat; #NotMyMonkey.Click here to reply to @SeekingPlumb "We we're told that we need to align all of those things according to neurotypicals. So, for example, I can experience a 0.7 degree difference in temperature from one room to the next. I can also tell you even if all four tires on a vehicle are within the normal range of air pressure, I can tell you which one has less air in it. And then yet I'm told over and over again, you couldn't possibly sense that temperature or see that air pressure difference."...more5minPlay
December 27, 2024@SeekingPlumb | The more subtle & normalized forms of "violent" communication. What do we do with this? #PlumbingViolentDelightsClick here to reply to @SeekingPlumb "I also can recognize that I have autism, and there's a profile called pathological demand avoidance or persistent drive for autonomy. And there's also often this need, this drive for a sense of justice. And so if you combine perhaps trauma, the profile, need for justice into this, like, cauldron of whatever, Christina. Right."...more5minPlay
December 26, 2024@SeekingPlumb | Capitalism left unchecked is like a virus. Where are the "ceilings"?Click here to reply to @SeekingPlumb "Anyway, what's funny is that, like, if economists know that capitalism has this late stage, that it will consume itself, you would think that there would be more policies or structures put into place to mitigate or somehow redirect. And I don't even know if any of this is possible. Right? But I'm just thinking it seems funny that monopolies are supposedly not legal, right?"...more5minPlay
December 22, 2024@SeekingPlumb | "Violent communication"; laying the groundwork. #PlumbingViolentDelightsClick here to reply to @SeekingPlumb "Let's continue to plumb the depths of violent delights by laying the groundwork for the topic of violent communication. The way that I want to do this feels a little quote, unquote, backwards, but at the same time sort of explains my journey and feels more organic."...more5minPlay
December 18, 2024@SeekingPlumb | Shame: an effective tool for control but not for positive change. (More reflections in the replies.)Click here to reply to @SeekingPlumb "This episode, I'm taking a bit of a detour. I still have a lot I'm pondering around violent communication and plumbing the depths of violent delights. But I want to just sort of share this because it was an aha moment that I had recently that I sort of want to document. I was having a conversation with someone and we were talking about the topic of shame. I don't remember the context, and I knew that we had different definitions of the word shame and guilt."...more5minPlay
December 13, 2024@SeekingPlumb | Remembering we ARE animalsโฆ #PlumbingViolentDelightsClick here to reply to @SeekingPlumb "And when people are already uneasy and afraid and concerned, then it's easy to latch onto the inflammatory idea rather than digging for knowledge or leaning into the knowledge that contradicts the narrative that fits how we're feeling, right? And then you look at an aspect of human behavior where certain things will cause a relief of tension. So, for example, comedic relief, right?"...more5minPlay
