The Cape Winemakers Guild is a collective of some of the most respected winemakers in the country. Founded in 1982, it now has some 48 members. The Guild has made a significant contribution to the development of the SA wine industry, and it is making a material difference to transformation, through its protégé programme. The annual Guild auction sees some of South Africa's finest wines go under the hammer, but the covid-19 pandemic has necessitated a change in approach for this year's auction. Each year the Helen Harder Foundation seeks interesting ways in which to raise funds for its noble cause and to strengthen its growing community. These events typically include dances, balls, adventurous activities and other entertaining charity events. In light of the COVID-19 related restrictions many of these activities were regrettably unable to take place this year. As a means of overcoming the challenges posed by the restrictions, the foundation

sought to organise their very first Virtual Race event, taking place on the weekend of 3-4 October 2020. This will allow avid runners and cyclists to get active and simultaneously assist the organisation’s cause. Runners may choose to complete either 5km or 10km, while cyclists can cover a distance of 10km, 45km or 75km. Those who wish to become involved can either actively participate or make a donation to the fund. As many South Africans enjoy an active lifestyle and have an enthusiasm for the outdoors, this idea lends itself to a good reception with many locals. Interested
