Gikk du glipp av dokumentarserien vår om Bill Shankly? Her kan du høre alle episodene i én fil. I «Hele historien om Bill Shankly» reiser vi til Glenbuck og det som er igjen av Shanklys hjembygd. Der møter vi Barbara Alexander, Shanklys niese, som forteller om livet i den fattige men vidunderlige landsbyen.

Vi snakker også med Jon Colman om Shanklys tid som spiller i Carlisle United, og Ian Rigby om Preston North End – klubben hvor Shankly avsluttet sin karriere som spiller, på ganske bittert vis.

Skottens første møte med manageryrket ble krevende. Han opererte med syltynne budsjetter, men det hindret ikke ham eller Carlisle, Workington og Grimsby med å la seg engasjere. Han fikk oppmerksomheten til styreformann i Liverpool som ønsket han til LFC. Der vekket han den sovende kjempen. Jobben ble altoppslukende, og det gikk ut over familien.

Sommeren 1974 sa Shankly opp. Barnebarn Karen Gill forteller om Shanklys tid etter fotballen, om skuffelsen, om sorgen etter hans brå bortgang og hvor rørende det var å se både røde og blå i begravelsen.
