  • The Eternal State
The sermon explores the biblical doctrine of the eternal state, detailing the destiny of both believers and unbelievers after death. It emphasizes the universal bodily resurrection, where the righteous are raised to eternal life with glorified bodies similar to Christ's, while the unrighteous face judgment and everlasting conscious punishment in hell. Drawing from passages such as John 5, 1 Corinthians 15, and Revelation 20, the message clarifies that physical death is not final but a transition to an immutable eternity determined by one's faith in Jesus Christ. The preacher urges listeners to recognize the urgency of their current spiritual standing, as this choice alone dictates whether they enter into the presence of God or face the second death. Ultimately, the teaching serves as both a comfort for believers awaiting reunion with Christ and a sobering warning to unbelievers regarding the reality of divine judgment.

  • That Blessed Hope
The sermon centers on the believer's eager anticipation of the glorious appearing of Jesus Christ, contrasting worldly distractions with the profound assurance found in Scripture. It emphasizes that this blessed hope is not a vague wish but a confident expectation based on God's promises regarding heaven as a real place of recognition and eternal reunion with loved ones in Christ. The message highlights how this future reality should purify present living and motivate holy conduct while awaiting His return. Additionally, it serves as a solemn warning to non-believers about the reality of hell, urging immediate repentance and faith in Jesus for salvation. Ultimately, the preacher encourages the audience to fix their eyes on heaven, finding strength and comfort in the promise that they will see their loved ones again in glory.

  • Overcoming Gospel Fear
Wednesday evening session of our Behind The Mask: Breaking Free From Performative Religion teaching sessions presented by Dr. Rand Hummel in conjunction with our 2026 VBS program, Secret Agent Academy The sermon challenges believers to overcome the fear of man and actively share the gospel with non-Christians. It identifies this phobia as a spiritual barrier rooted in pride and emphasizes that God provides power, courage, and love instead of fear. The speaker urges the audience to identify three specific individuals and commit to sharing their faith through simple actions like inviting them for coffee or giving them gospel tracts. Historical accounts of martyrdom and personal anecdotes illustrate the urgency of eternal salvation and the reality of hell. Ultimately, the message calls for a decisive commitment to witness, relying on God's grace rather than human ability.

  • The Cross of Christ
Heidelberg Catechism Lord's Day 16 40. Why was it necessary for Christ to humble himself even "unto death"? Because with respect to the justice and truth of God, satisfaction for our sins could be made no otherwise, than by the death of the Son of God. 41. Why was he also "buried"? Thereby to prove that he was really dead. 42. Since then Christ died for us, why must we also die? Our death is not a satisfaction for our sins, but only an abolishing of sin, and a passage into eternal life. 43. What further benefit do we receive from the sacrifice and death of Christ on the cross? That by virtue thereof, our old man is crucified, dead and buried with him; that so the corrupt inclinations of the flesh may no more reign in us; but that we may offer ourselves unto him a sacrifice of thanksgiving. 44. Why is there added, "he descended into hell"? That in my greatest temptations, I may be assured, and wholly comfort myself in this, that my Lord Jesus Christ, by his inexpressible anguish, pains, terrors, and hellish agonies, in which he was plunged during all his sufferings, but especially on the cross, has delivered me from the anguish and torments of hell.

  • Day of Judgment, Day of Wonders
Pastor Mark Hogan taught from Isaiah 53 and Matthew 27:45-56, explaining that Jesus' crucifixion was not merely rejection by men but, more foundationally, God's judgment upon His Son as the suffering servant. He emphasized that the darkness from the sixth to the ninth hour signified a preliminary judgment day, where Yahweh poured out His wrath on Christ as the sin-bearer. Jesus' cry, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me," expressed His experience of divine abandonment and the full penalty of hell for sinners. Hogan highlighted that this propitiation satisfied God's justice, so that believers will never face condemnation. The tearing of the temple veil from top to bottom demonstrated that Christ's sacrifice rendered the old sacrificial system obsolete and opened direct access to God. The earthquake and opened tombs showed the cosmic scope of Jesus' death, conquering death itself. Hogan applied this by urging hearers to see Jesus as their substitute, to trust in Him for salvation, and to live in the freedom that His cry of dereliction ensures they will never utter those words. He concluded by pointing to the centurion's confession, "Truly this was the Son of God," as the proper response to the cross.
