Better late than never, we have episode 18 up and we’re reviewing The Amazing Spiderman this week! Let us know what you think about this superhero flick – amazing or not? Next week, we’re covering the last big superhero movie of the summer, The Dark Knight Rises, and so feel free to comment on that too!
This episode’s Song of the Week is Cigarette Thin (The Age of Asparagus) by Jeremy Fisher and Jim Bryson. Check out the link if only for the album art, which is king of adorable, in my opinion. Maybe you have to know what the artists look like – I’ve linked their names to pictures of them.
To download this episode, just click here, or stream it directly here. Join us next Wednesday for episode 19!
Howdy!
So apparently sunshine + warm weather + summer school = Cassie’s brain turning into mush! The good news is that there is indeed a podcast for this week. The even better news being it is right below for your consumption! This week we finally got around to checking out Pixar’s Brave, and a pretty interesting to do list for this weekend.
This week our song of the week is Warrior by Kimbra, also featuring Mark Foster from Foster the People, because Mark Foster makes everything just a little bit better (at least in my opinion). You can find Warrior for download from iTunes.
As always, you can stream our podcast online from here or download it directly from here. And if you feel like making things easier for yourself head on over to iTunes search for Hello City! Culture Cast and subscribe to have new episodes downloaded directly as soon as they are available.

This week, we have a crazy mix of classy and… not so classy. Megan reviews Macbeth at Bard on the Beach, which was well done but less than a blast, while Cassie had a chance to check out Magic Mike. We also have a huge list of awesome things to do next week, so tune in for our song of the week and Vancouver To Do List.
You can download the song of the week Change the Sheets by Kathleen Edwards, but more importantly, you can download the episode here or stream it directly here.
Hope you had a fantastic Canada Day long weekend and tune in next week!

It’s finally here…episode 15!!! lol so I know it’s not really that exciting that we’re on the fifteenth episode, but our reviews for this week including Vancouver Makes Music and Foster the People’s June 25 concert at Deer Lake Park, really are that exciting! We also have a pretty exciting list of things to do around Vancouver with some special events for this Canada Day Long weekend.
Our song of the week this week is Touch the Sky by Julie Fowlis, a song which coincidentally happens to be featured on the new Brave soundtrack. You can find the song here.

Oh hey everyone! As promised previously when we reviewed Mirror Mirror, this week we checked out the other Snow White remake of the summer – Snow White and the Huntsman. We discuss the differences between the two (hint: there are many!) as well our opinions of Kristen Stewart’s acting abilities, and what about the film left us a little confused. And as per usual we have some exciting events for you all to check out this week including the Vancouver Francophone Summer Festival (Festival d’été.)
Stream the podcast directly here, or download the zip file here. Or be way ahead of the curve and subscribe to us through iTunes by searching the iTunes Store for Hello City podcast.
Our song of the week this week is Alien by Sebastian Pigott, from the CBC show Being Erica (because anyone who knows me knows that I am IN LOVE with Being Erica.) To check out an alternate version of the song by the Pigott brothers click here.

And we’re back! Sorry about the disappearing act, folks. I ran off to France for 3 weeks to learn about European Politics, but we’re now back to our regularly scheduled programming. This week, we’re reviewing The Avengers. We discuss whether this superhero ensemble piece was more than just explosions, super powers and hype. We also let you know what’s happening in Vancouver in the upcoming week, so check it out.
Stream the podcast directly here, or download the zip file here. Or, here’s an innovation, subscribe to us through iTunes by searching the iTunes Store for Hello City podcast.

This week we review An Affair to Remember for our Rainy Day edition, as our original plan – reviewing a Snow Patrol concert – was cancelled on account of poor weather. We reflect on its status as a classic romance and tell you whether it’s worth renting on a rainy Vancouver day. Our song of the week is Video Games by Lana Del Rey, which can be found here.

Hey everyone! Sorry for the late post this week – I am in the middle of moving and completely overlooked the fact that I wouldn’t have Internet for a couple of days. Good news is we are back online with our first double-digit, and longest episode to date. This week we reviewed the film Mirror Mirror, featured our Vancouver to do-list and had an amazing song of the week by Library Voices that you can check out here.
You can stream our podcast online from here, or download it directly here.

This week we review Hullabaloo, the BC Youth Indie Poetry Slam Competition at the Rio last Friday, and their featured performance poet Buddy Wakefield. We saw some amazing youth performers from Vancouver Island, Vancouver and surrounding areas.
