In all seriousness though, Summer Pedersen is an amazing Certified Doula and Trauma Free Birth Advocate who has endured her own close loss of her younger brother due to Suicide. This episode starts off heavy to recognize those who suffer from mental health and need someone to just reach out. My condolences to her and her family. We hope that this episode can shine some light on the importance of checking on our loved ones and to let those suffering know - YOU ARE NOT ALONE. 988 is the crisis hotline for anyone suffering or knows someone suffering but visit your nearest hospital for any emergency or any thought of it becoming one. We take a detour of looking into what being a Doula means and how you can be your own advocate in your birth. That detour though is not out of the Big Picture Path chosen for Summer though. She always knew she wanted to work with babies and mamas but now she holds her brother close in her heart. Transformation is such a hard period when we are not yet there and kind of in a time where we feel stuck. Reminding ourselves that life is too short and to live for our loved ones is a powerful motivator once we release the guilt, anger around their passing. We will always miss them but living for them and filling yourself up with joy is what they want for you. When divine timing is right, your transformation begins even when you least expect it.

It is a whole new ball game when you combine parenting and trauma that you are still dealing with. How we respond to an event can cause us to have trauma. It’s not the event itself but our reaction of how much it affects us - that is the trauma. I talk about triggers and navigating parenting without accidentally projecting my fears and experiences on my kids. Of course I have to bring in the life lessons from Spirit because Spirit leads me on this journey of sharing the most vulnerable parts of me.
