Anxiety is a persistent feeling of worry or dread that something terrible will happen in situations that aren’t actually threatening. These feelings can persist even after the event has passed. Physical changes like increased blood pressure, nausea, and tremors are common. It’s crucial that your teenagers learn how to cope with anxiety so that they can face challenges head-on.

Vicarious traumatization, also known as vicarious trauma or secondary trauma, is a specific form of trauma that is caused by secondhand exposure to traumatic events, such as the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, killing of George Floyd, Breanna Taylor, and killings of black people by police officers. Just simply hearing about or watching footage of such event’s can facilitate trauma. Teenagers are especially susceptible to this form of trauma, which is also known as secondary traumatic stress.
