  • Freedom Grow with Kristin Flor
Freedom Grow with Kristin Flor today on Hempresent! In 2011, the medical cannabis company her father co-owned (Montana Cannabis) was raided by the Federal Government. her mom and dad were suddenly facing an unfair fight in the court system. The feds did not allow the state laws in their court, so they had no defense, and they both were forced to prison. The private prison the feds sent her dad was ignoring his health problems, he was being tortured and severely neglected. Four months into her dad’s prison stay, she got a phone call from the US Marshals. They told Kristin her dad had two major heart attacks and she needed to come to take him off life support. During this most private time between her dad and her, there were two US Marshals guarding us. A few minutes after Kristin's dad stopped breathing, the nurses removed his covers and his fragile ankles were still shackled to the bed. He had osteoporosis and had broken eight bones in prison. When she left the hospital that night, she vowed to herself to do everything humanly possible to help the prisoners that her dad left behind.

In 2013 she became a public speaker about the subject of cannabis prisoners and active membership with the Human Solution. Her membership quickly led to board members, vice president, and executive director. After leaving The Human Solution in 2015, she co-founded Voices of the Cannabis War (VOW). VOW was not a 501c3, so their focus was writing articles in various magazines about the prisoners, creating images about them, attending events, and hosting VOW radio with Eugene Fischer who served 35 years of a LIFE sentence for cannabis. In 2019, Kristin started working seriously deep with Freedom Grow and decided this is where she wants to put all her attention!

  • Forti Goods with Sharon Kevil
Forti Goods with founder Sharon Kevil joins us today on Hempresent. Sharon previously spent over a decade as an interior designer before turning her talents to develop furniture for Kohl’s. After an overseas factory trip where she witnessed subpar working conditions and horrible pollution, Sharon got to work building the kind of company she wanted to work for: socially & environmentally sustainable, meaningful, and family-supporting. • Angel Thrasher - Medical Marijuana Mom
Angel Thrasher (Salter) is the mother of Dylan Moon, a 22-year-old who was born a micro-preemie or born very prematurely, at just 26 weeks. Dylan was born with hydrocephalus resulting in brain damage and initial frontal lobe damage, which caused him to have intractable epilepsy. He suffers grand mal seizures which damage his brain, killing neurons and further worsening his condition. Not surprisingly, cannabis significantly lessons Dylan’s suffering, but the iron curtain of federal cannabis prohibition creates arbitrary obstacles to Dylan’s quest for relief, as well as thousands of other Americans seeking to lessen their suffering.

Currently, Colleen is working on producing a feature film with Academy Award Winning Professionals on the life of Thom Forcade. • Cannabis Basics with Ah Warner
Cannabis Basics with founder Ah Warner today on Hempresent. In 1994, newly pregnant Ah Warner knew that life would never be the same after she walked into the Fremont Hemp Company, realizing the possibilities for creation and production were limitless. 1995 saw the birth of her daughter, Darienne Zoa, along with an overly ambitious catalog of hemp products she called Cannabis Creations, which included candles, stationery, hand-dyed yarns, fabrics, handcrafted pillows, and even a line of hempseed goodies called Incredible Edibles. Meanwhile, she rolled up her sleeves and began researching the therapeutic benefits of blending hempseed oil with healing botanicals and essential oils. As her first potion, Ah made a Lavender and Tangerine Love Yourself Massage oil, still prominent in the now Cannabis Basics line-up. That same year, Ah put together a team of mentors, (Sandi and Mary from Brookside Soap and Lisa from Full Moon Rising), to help with the expansion of her hemp body care line. Also in 2015, the United States Patent and Trade Office (USPTO) issued Cannabis Basics the first-ever trademark registration for a brand logo with both the cannabis leaf and the word “cannabis” that actually protects a product with cannabis in it.

  • Single-Use Plastic In The Cannabis Industry
Single-Use Plastic In The Cannabis Industry with Jason Lammers. Jason is the General Manager at 420WholesalePack.com, the Vice President of the Cannabis Alliance, & Chair of The Sustainable Cannabis Committee. Jason has joined us today to talk about regional efforts to address the growing problem of single-use plastics in the cannabis industry. Government regulations require strict packaging guidelines to ensure cannabis products are tamper-proof and child-proof, for good reason. Especially when cannabis comes in a wide variety of tasty treats like gummy bears and chocolate bars these days, it’s vital that kids (or even pets) can’t accidentally get into sampling an adult’s stash. Unfortunately, these laws often require large amounts of single-use plastic waste to be created in the process of protecting the public. This contradiction makes it quite difficult for cannabis businesses to utilize sustainable packaging materials if they want to keep compliant with the law. But with legal cannabis rapidly becoming one of the largest industries in the nation, not to mention the looming threat of climate change closing in on us, sustainable solutions to the plastic problem are genuinely needed.
