An April 17 drop-in social hosted by Catch Your Limit Consulting and Lost Office Collaborative culminated in a toast to CYL's Tom Laughon on the occasion of his retirement. Tim Timberlake, Laughon's friend of 50 years, reminisced about meeting Laughon in the 1970s and sang a tribute to him as Tom's wife, Melissa, and dozens of guests looked on. Henrico Citizen Managing Editor Patty Kruszewski won two awards in the Virginia Professional Communicators 2024 communications contest, including a first-place entry that advanced to the National Federation of Press Women competition. According to data from the Virginia Association of Free and Charitable Clinics, the number of volunteers at state clinics has decreased by 50% in the past six years. In recognition of National Volunteer Week (April 21-27), the organization is urging potential volunteers to help. Bon Secours has opened a new urgent care facility at Regency in Henrico's Near West End. Bon Secours Urgent Care, Regency, is part of an effort by the nonprofit to expand its network of urgent care centers. The new 3,600-square-foot center is located at 1502 North Parham Road and features eight treatment rooms. Virginia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased slightly in March to 2.9 percent, as the state witnessed an increase of more than 2,750 employed citizens, according to data released earlier this month by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Current Employment Statistics Survey.
