John Newcomb Beal, 85 of Henrico, VA passed away December 3, 2023. He worked at Phillip Morris for 31 years as a Machine Mechanic, retiring in 1994 and coached youth baseball for many years. Hidden beneath the foliage at East End Cemetery are gravestones split in half, sunken into the earth and grave markers divorced from the bodies they honor. Henrico Police say 24 people have died from homicides so far in 2023. The Henrico County Commonwealth's Attorney Victim Witness Services hosted their annual homicide vigil to honor those 24 people, as well as those in previous years who were victims of homicide. The county lit up a tree at the Henrico County Complex to honor the victims. Families filled it with ornaments to honor their loved ones who died.
