A J.R. Tucker High School student was stabbed at her bus stop Thursday morning, according to Henrico Police. The stabbing occurred at the intersection of Fairlake Lane and Fairlake Court (near Hungary Road and Springfield Road) just after 8:30 a.m. When officers arrived, they found the girl suffering from non-life-threatening stab wounds. She was transported to a local hospital. Police detectives are following up on leads and speaking with witnesses, officials said. Deep Run High School For the first time under head coach Joe Mullinax, the Deep Run football squad secured an on-field victory in a tight 7-6 comeback win last week to improve to 1-3 on the season. The Wildcats were down 6-0 for the majority of the game after a 47-yard touchdown run from Meadowbrook on the first play of the night. A year ago, tens of thousands of students walked out of Virginia high schools in protest of proposed education policies that many said would harm LGBTQ students. It’s a year later, a new school year and the policies were officially passed in July -- but not without garnering over 70,000 comments on a state agency forum. Virginia State Police graduated its 139th class of state troopers Sept. 15.  The 31 new state troopers were presented their diplomas during commencement exercises at the State Police Training Academy in Chesterfield County. Two of the new graduates (Brandesha Lynn Brown of Cedar Bluff and Steven Jacob Winn of Bucktown, Penn.) will report to individual duty assignments in Henrico County, and three of the new graduates (Phillip Isaiah Bishop of Kingsport, Tenn., Emily Elizabeth Brownell of White Creek, N.Y., and Henry McCord Morrison of South Boston) will be assigned to Hanover/Henrico. The Henrico Board of Supervisors approved several development projects at its Sept. 12 meeting, including plans for an apartment building in the Near West End, north of the intersection of Thalbro Street and Westmoreland Street. Merchants Walk, a 219,972-square-foot grocery-anchored shopping center on West Broad Street in the heart of the West End, was sold to an undisclosed buyer for .4 million by its owner, an affiliate of Hackney Real Estate Partners.
