Accessible sports club Sportable will host the third-annual RVA Adaptive Sports Festival, presented by C&F Bank and C&F Mortgage, on Saturday, April 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Glen Allen High School. Deep Run High School The Wildcats’ track and field program had some solid performances last week. Junior thrower Jahleel Miller won the Atlee Polar Bear no. 2 meet with a throw of 47 feet. Sophomore runner Finn Hubbert won the 1000-meter with a personal best time of 2:39.36. Hubbert is now ranked eighth in the Region 5B standings this winter in that event. Henrico County has appointed Jackson P.F. Baynard to serve as chief of the Division of Fire, effective Jan. 28. He joined the division as a firefighter in 2003, rose through its leadership ranks and served most recently as assistant fire chief. He succeeds Alec W. Oughton, who recently retired after serving nearly four years as chief. Baynard also served as Henrico’s emergency manager in 2020 and 2021, helping to lead the county’s initial response to the COVID-19 pandemic, an effort for which he earned public commendation from Henrico government officials.
