The Henrico County office of Virginia Cooperative Extension will offer a three-part clinic to help residents test their private wells, springs and cisterns for potentially dangerous levels of contaminants. The local housing market continues to show signs of growth, with sales outpacing last year’s levels in most areas and home prices rising rapidly, according to a report released by the Central Virginia Regional Multiple Listing Service. Echo Lake Elementary School second grader Haley Paciocco was one of four students in Virginia and California honored recently for submissions to a nationwide contest promoting healthy COVID-related habits. Virginia students 12 and older might have the chance to receive COVID-19 vaccinations in their schools before the school year ends in June. That’s according to state vaccination coordinator Danny Avula, who said during a call with state media members Friday that he and other officials will be meeting with the state’s school superintendents next week to discuss the possibility. Betty Helfert Taylor went to be with our Lord and Savior on April 27, 2021. She passed away peacefully at her home in Henrico, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Frank Helfert and Ruby Vernell Helfert, and her loving husband of 54 years, Carroll E. First-unemployment claims skyrocketed in Henrico County during the most recent reporting week – more than doubling the previous week’s claims and reaching their highest single-week total in nearly nine months, according to the Virginia Employment Commission. But VEC officials believe that widespread fraudulent claims may be to blame for many of the new claims. A total of 657 county residents filed initial claims with the VEC during the week of April 18-24 – up from the 323 who did so the previous week.
