Henrico County reported just 33 new COVID-19 cases March 11, the fourth day of the past five on which new case counts were 40 or below. The county’s seven-day average of new daily cases is now 49. Henrico Police arrested and charged a 39-year-old man after an early morning shooting in Eastern Henrico March 10 left a woman with non-life-threatening injuries. Shawn Roderick Collier was arrested on scene after the shooting, which occurred at about 1:30 a.m. in the 200 block of Newbridge Circle. Collier faces charges of malicious wounding; use of a firearm during the commission of a felony; and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Police considered the incident an isolated one and said there was no further threat to the community.Article Link

A laundry room fire overnight at the Masonic Home of Virginia in Eastern Henrico forced evacuation of 10 residents, but no one was injured. It happened shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday, according to Henrico Fire officials. Firefighters responded to a call of smoke coming from the laundry room and arrived to find black smoke and water in a residential hallway. The fire had been contained by an automatic fire suppression system. Fire officials remained on scene to assist with the removal of water and smoke, and the Henrico Fire Marshal’s Officce is working to determine the origin of the fire.Article Link

Henrico Police have charged a driver in connection with a July 2020 crash that killed a 76-year-old Henrico woman. Fifty-three year-old Jodell Alvis faces indictment on a charge of reckless driving in relation to the incident that killed Lucy Le in the 500 block of Welwyn Road at about 8:40 a.m. July 27. Le was struck by the 2012 Jeep Cherokee allegedly driven by Alvis, who was backing out of a driveway.Article Link
