YWCA Richmond has launched its 21-Day Racial Equity and Social Justice Challenge in collaboration with YWCA South Hampton Roads and YWCA Central Virginia. The James River Association recently opened registration for the 2021 season of its “Connect with the James” guided river trips. The programs are open to the public and provide an opportunity to enjoy the water while learning about the wildlife, history and natural resources of the James River and its tributaries. Henrico Police have arrested and charged a suspect in connection with Saturday’s hit-and-run incident in Glen Allen that left a long-time Henrico Police captain dead. Thirty-year-old Justin Regensburg of Chesterfield County faces two felony hit-and-run counts – one count related to hitting an occupied vehicle and another related to hitting a pedestrian. Police arrested him at about 11:30 a.m. Sunday morning in King William County and transported him to the Henrico jail, where he is being held without bond. A 33-year veteran of the Henrico Police force died Saturday when he was struck by a car in Glen Allen, near the Hanover County line. Capt. Donald L. Lambert, Jr. was off duty and on foot at the time when he was struck by a driver on Greenwood Road. The incident prompted a significant police response that involved more than two dozen vehicles and numerous officers. March begins Monday, and it could bring with it a boatload of COVID-19 vaccine doses in Virginia. The state could receive as many as 431,000 or more total doses of vaccine, state vaccine coordinator and Henrico Health Department Director Danny Avula said during a press briefing Friday afternoon. Henrico Police are seeking the public’s help in locating a missing 23-year-old county man whose family woke up Friday morning to find him missing from their home in the 3600 block of Woodlynne Place in the Far West End. Avijith Rajan was reported missing at about 5 a.m., according to his parents. He is described as being 5-foot-9 and weighing 210 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair that recently was shaved. The Henrico School Board advanced its 5.2-million budget proposal for Fiscal Year 2021-22 to the Henrico Board of Supervisors Thursday, voting unanimously during a work session to endorse it. A public hearing scheduled Thursday to permit public input about the plan attracted no speakers. The budget does not reflect the funding announced earlier this month by Henrico County Manager John Vithoulkas that will cover significant pay raises for all eligible county employees – including a minimum of 6.8% for teachers. Virginia “Ginny” Harris Holloway, 72, of Henrico, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, February 17, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sellus and Lucy Harris; sisters, Louise Loving, Dottie Harris; brother, Charles Harris; nephew, Robert Harris.
