Richmond and Henrico Health District officials this week have a better sense about the race or ethnicity of the Henricoans who have received COVID-19 vaccinations than they did two weeks ago. New data released Wednesday by the RHHD shows that nearly 75% of the 55,000 county residents who had received at least one dose by Feb. 16 had reported their race. Two weeks ago, only about 61% of those vaccinated had done so. Henrico County general government offices and facilities and Henrico courts and clerks’ offices will be closed Thursday, Feb. 18, in light of the expected ice storm. Emergency legislation that would allow dentists, other health care professionals and some medical students, to administer COVID-19 vaccines has been signed by Governor Ralph Northam and becomes law immediately. Senate Bill 1445, sponsored by Senator Siobhan S. Henrico County reported 126 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday, an increase from the double-digits of new cases it saw during the past three days, according to the Virginia Department of Health. The seven-day moving average reached 105 cases. Despite reporting no new virus-related deaths, the county reported seven new hospitalizations related to the virus, the highest report this week, according the VDH data. St. Joseph’s Villa raised more than .6 million during its five-year “RiseUP Campaign’” for capital improvements and program operations. The Villa had sought to raise million through the campaign to address its efforts in mental health, housing, and autism education. Henrico County Public Schools officials have canceled curbside meal distribution at participating county schools Thursday, in anticipation of the ice storm that’s expected to hit the county. Schools will be offering extra meals Wednesday between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. as a result, according to school officials. Those who visit schools to pick up meals should feel free to request additional bags, they said.
