The Virginia Department of Health today launched a new, centralized website that allows Virginians to easily pre-register for the COVID-19 vaccine. The site is designed as a ‘one-stop-shop’ to allow people to pre-register online, check that they are pre-registered, and access additional information about Virginia’s vaccination roll-out. Virginians who have previously pre-registered through their local health district have been automatically imported into the new system and do not need to pre-register again. The Henrico Citizen has named its inaugural Citizen Advisory Board members – 15 Henricoans who will serve one-year volunteer terms to provide input, ideas and feedback about previous, current and future Citizen coverage. The Citizen created the board as a way to deepen its connections within the county and ensure that open lines of communication exist between communities and groups from all corners of Henrico. Bobby Ray Axselle, 83 of Mechanicsville, claimed the promise of the resurrection peacefully in his sleep at his home on February 14, 2021. He was born on February 7, 1938, in Henrico, Virginia. Henrico County has reported two of its lowest daily totals of new COVID-19 cases in the past two months on consecutive days – 66 Sunday and 77 Monday – according to the Virginia Department of Health. The county’s seven-day average declined to 109 daily cases, continuing a downward trend following a spike in mid-January. Sunday’s new case count was Henrico’s lowest since Dec. 3, according to the VDH. The Enrichmond Foundation recently partnered with Howard Wellman Conservation, LLC to create a comprehensive preservation plan for Historic Evergreen and East End cemeteries. The historic cemeteries serve as the final resting place for thousands of individuals who faced segregation, discrimination, and racial violence while contributing in important ways to the city’s and nation’s social, political, intellectual, and religious life. Ananya Nanduru of George H. Moody Middle School won a spell-off Jan. 26 to repeat as Henrico County Public Schools’ Divisionwide Spelling Bee champion. The eighth-grader bested Hollie Kim, an L. Douglas Wilder Middle School sixth-grader, to win the tiebreaker, held virtually.   Virginia lawmakers killed a proposal that would allow some special education students another year of instruction because of the struggles of virtual learning caused by COVID-19. Henrico Police have arrested and charged a 42-year-old Henrico man with second-degree murder in connection with what they are terming a domestic incident, in which a 35-year-old county woman was killed in Varina Friday. Michael L. Thurston, Sr. is being held without bond at the Henrico jail in connection with the killing of Tabitha A. Inge.
