Later, Libby Znaimer is joined by NDP MPP France Gélinas (Nickel-Belt) who is the critic for health, and Natalie Mehra, Executive Director of the Ontario Health Coalition to discuss news that the Ontario NDP says they would commit to a Caregiver Benefit Program. Andrea Horwath, the NDP leader, was in the Bay of Quinte yesterday to make the announcement. We explore the details and discuss the need to improve home care as an alternative to long-term care. And, speaking of long-term care, certain restrictions have eased including allowing people who are fully vaccinated to make close contact with residents at homes. We also know that residents can have up to ten visitors in an outdoor setting and all residents can have two general visitors and two caregivers for an indoor visit at the same time.
